What do you love about this game?
Re: What do you love about this game?
You beat round 24 guards and kamis! I rest my case ! I wasnt there, but i know to beat those odds, you must have had an almighty army!

And to be fair, they were the basic free guards all clumped up in a nice easy spot for us.final60 wrote:You beat round 24 guards and kamis! I rest my case ! I wasnt there, but i know to beat those odds, you must have had an almighty army!

Back on track -
I've been on Atys since January. What are the good things I can look forward to in the future? What are the places and events I should seek out?
Who tells the funniest jokes? Who has the best podcast? *winks at Beau*
Where are the prettiest places? Personal favorites. Specifics appreciated.
What is your favorite mission? Favorite grind? (as if...)
I love everything so far. I even love the gingos, now that I can whack em or sneak past. Most of the time. Look, what a cute dead gingo!
I especially love my guildies. Love ya, family!

Virgina Falls in Hidden Source is an obvious one. Also, try to find all the pond-indentation-cave-things in Fleeting Garden. There are some real caves along the walls of Scorched Corridor you can almost get lost in, and a large cavernous kitin nest in Wastelands. There's some cool locales in Maiden Grove. Most of Liberty Lake is filled with beautiful spots.iceaxe68 wrote:Where are the prettiest places? Personal favorites. Specifics appreciated.
I enjoy any of the current mainland missions when done in a team, in which most of them can be done - even the crafting ones. They're ok solo, but better with accompaniment, IMO. Therein we can roleplay and give them the meaningfulness they supposedly lack. Silan missions, conversely, bore my brain out my ears and into a puddle whether solo or grouped.iceaxe68 wrote:What is your favorite mission?
Grinding my personal sneaking skill by occasionally trekking low-level alts through regions with high aggro density and low predictability.iceaxe68 wrote:Favorite grind? (as if...)

Maybe it is the Tryker wine talking, but I LOVE this LOVEfest thread. If I had the money I would recreate Atys and buy us all specially adapted Elephants for mounts and we would all ride off into the sunset and have some wine under the stars, we would light fires and prepare for the morning.
When the sun rises we would look up to see my specially modified giant praying mantises swarming towards us in the hundreds. Some of us would look at each other and say "ok, I'm not sure if I can do this for REAL" but we'd reach over, pat each other on the back and respond: "but we HAVE to..." and then we'd all let out blood curdling yelps and pick up our swords and start running towards the mobs.
Hours later, we'd be pulling friends back from the front line, laying them fireside with a smile and saying "wait here..I'll be back" ..
Soon enough we'd all have forced back the approaching line of super huge praying mantis things and we'd rest, bandaging our wounds and mourning those we lost.
But maybe it's just the wine talking.

Wait for the evening, teleport to Oflovaks Oasis and run south to Burning forest. Sit down and watch darkness fall on burning remains of the forest... til everyhing you see are searing tips of trees.iceaxe68 wrote: Where are the prettiest places? Personal favorites. Specifics appreciated.
This is one of the most amazing sight I ever saw in computer game.

For another really nice view of Flaming forest, go to the south tip of the mesa in Outlaw Canyon, and look out across Scorched Corridor ( Depending on your graphic settings)

Re: What do you love about this game?
For me Atys is everything mentioned in this thread thus far and then some.
I love guiding Newbes around on a tour through whatever country, and hearing (if TS) or reading the awe in their voices when confronted with many of the beautifull sights on this amazing world.
It´s my favorite pastime to help Newcommers from Silan around the lands in full RP-Mode and explain to them the particulars of this Animal or another.
Not to be scholary, no, just to be someone who´s got stories to tell about the place.
Standing at Virginia Falls for example and while the Refugee admires the sights, telling him/her the story of the beautifull wedding ceremonie of good friends that was held over there, right under that big tree on the other side of the lake...
Sparking their imagination, seeing them fall in love with this world.
These rare moments are what I love Atys for the most.
