Is it not said or rather ordered by jena that the matis ppl shall not venture beneath the ground, this presumably refers to the pr regions.
now anyone that follows the lore to the letter of the lore will of course be in full obeyance with this command,

Now we have a dilema, the matisian people aren't allowed into the pr so how do we fix it?
ok we'll build one very small area above ground where these homins can dig supreme mats, that will still allow them access to every aspect of the game without punishing them because of their play style.
Jena's commandments are aimed at all Karavaneers, regardless of race. The PR one may refer to the deeper levels of the Roots, which are not game-mechanically accessible anyway.

Here's one example:

I had a PM conversation with a player who wanted to concentrate on harvesting and he asked which is the best land to choose to go to when leaving Silan "for a digger". The two things that first came to MY mind were:

1. Ya can safely dig hi level exe right outside of Yrakis. I am aware of no other location where this occurs.

2. Nexus. Availability of Supreme Mats w/o pursuing a new skill tree.

One can make all the counter arguments one wants about this but the fact remains, no where else in Atys are these options available. Is this necessary ? Is there a reason why other lands shouldn't have such opportunities and if so why shouldn't the same opportunities be available to all ?
Your argument is null. Why? Simply because anyone can dig any land. I'm a Fyros with 250 Jungle forage. I didn't have to be Zorai to dig jungle. Sure, I had to run to that land and dig there but so can anyone else. If you want the Nexus sup, dig forest. There's nothing to stop a player from doing so.

Imho, I find Fyros being the easiest land to level in till you hit Q200 (one town in 3 different zones around, each around a lake where digging spots are all nearby and the digger is always a short run from their packer and merchants). Even Flaming Forest is much easier to dig in (only Void beats it) when you compared it to the forest and lake 250 zones.

In addition, Nexus supreme mats only applies to Matis plans and up to Q200 which is limiting. I'd rather just level in an easy zone first (aka Fyros or Jungle) and then hit PR and get more experience through over-digging (thus leveling faster. Yes there are aggro-free zones where you can dig safely and near a TP).

As for the Excellent mats just outside of Yrk, it's only for those that prefer just to dig and not craft (what are you going to do with only amber?). Most diggers are crafters and they would still be forced to dig in higher level zones for other mats.

Personally, I love the diverse feel of each land. It makes exploring anad trekking more fun (why would I want to go to lands that basically feel/look all the same. Same with digging or hunting in them).

The exec beng spot has been there since the game started. Rites have not.

The rite in question shows you a hidden resource on Atys. It doesn't say "oh, but don't use this except for now". Try not to assume that because something is used in a rite that is the only place it can be used.

Three points:
1) Agree @ "aimed at all karavaneers". This includes Trykers too (Well, the ones that haven't been blinded my Ma-Duk anyway). Technically of course its aimed at all homins, regardless of race or cult, but only the Karavaneers would bother to pay any attention :o
2) It does agree to the deep roots that aren't accessible ig at the moment; that was stated during an ingame event. Also the actual commandment is not to "venture beneath the surface in search of the dragon lest you provoke his wrath" or something very similar.
3)

That's because we have more imagination than anyone else :D (yes, I forgot what I was going to say and made something up :o )

because of the placement of our cities we spend more time in them than the other races hence we want pretty buildings maybe

Seems to me that we mostly all agree that digging is different in different lands, but not unbalanced.

But the original post was about inequities in general, digging was just a suggested example, and since this thread has kept me so amused at work, I'll suggest another one. Should keep me amused tomorrow, too. ;)

I would like to talk about trekking.

And I don't mean a group of several AoDs blasting their way through... The ones who don't have pacts, who have to trek, are the newer players, and alone or in groups, maybe with a guide, they have to sneak.

It seems to me that it is easy to sneak between forest and desert, and only the ramp presents a problem going from there to Zora (and only in certain seasons). But getting in and out of Aeden Aquatus can be a real pain.

As a 200 zone to sneak through, the maze in Heretics Hovel can be a real pain, and on the other side of the portal you find Loria... Going from the other side, from Zora, is the only trek where you have to go through the roots, and when you get through, you still have a whole zone of nasty to get through before you can swim to safety.

I'm not saying it's too hard... I'd probably rather see the other treks made harder than these treks made easier, if anything should be changed at all. With the new "start where you want" patch, it's also the same for everyone, in some ways... but trykers who want to craft tryker have to go to the lakes, no matter where they start, and if they start there, they have to do this trek to get anywhere else.

I just thik this deserves a little mention in a thread about differences, and maybe it will get the thread back on track.

Kedino

PS: If any needs a hand getting from anywhere to anywhere else, just give me a /tell if I'm on, and I'll see what I can do.

Oh what about city layouts? Notice how Yrk and FH are (more or less) open and easy to get around as opposed to places like Zora or Pyr that feel like a maze? I have the trainer in Zora marked on my map and it still takes me a few minutes to wind myself around to the right path.

There's cheese here somewhere... isn't there!?

I personally find Yrkanis the hardest to find things since there are no roads to speak about, but I guess that's just me :P
