As GameForge goes about addressing the things that need to be tweaked fixed, what would you add which you found yourself wishing you hadn't made a certain game choice cause it came back to "bite you on the arse". The intent of THIS thread is NOT to include:
A) Anything related to PvP. If ya wanna talk PvP, OP locations with regard to spawn points, etc. please start another thread.
B) Anything that affects all players equally. For example, if ya have a beef with ranged combat, that affects all races, factions equally, then again please start your own or use existing threads on the topic.
This thread is intended to be about balance and avoiding a situation where everyone wants to make the same choice because it's more beneficial.
Here's one example:
I had a PM conversation with a player who wanted to concentrate on harvesting and he asked which is the best land to choose to go to when leaving Silan "for a digger". The two things that first came to MY mind were:
1. Ya can safely dig hi level exe right outside of Yrakis. I am aware of no other location where this occurs.
2. Nexus. Availability of Supreme Mats w/o pursuing a new skill tree.
One can make all the counter arguments one wants about this but the fact remains, no where else in Atys are these options available. Is this necessary ? Is there a reason why other lands shouldn't have such opportunities and if so why shouldn't the same opportunities be available to all ?
Proposed Solutions
1.A) Add hi level exe location to areas around welcoming towns in zora, fyros and fairhaven.
or
1.B) Remove hi level exe from Yrakis
2.A) Add sup are to other 3 regions
or
2.B) Remove sups from nexus.
personally, I favor the B's.
I'd like to minimize self justifications to the greatest extent possible. Keep in mind that a middle aged white man who says he's never seen any evidence of racial or gender discrimination just doesn't hold much weight.
In the above case it just doesn't matter if there's a boogey man guarding the exe spot or if there's heavy aggro in nexus, the fact is the opportunity is still there.
There can be differences without making a player feel bad about a game choice. Fyros for example is the easiest land to navigate geographically but the hardest to navigate mob wise. The mazes in matis / zora and the lake / shore junctions in tryker have me often running around in circles trying to get somewhere. As one who has been a n00b in all areas through the beta / FBT stages I felt most frustrated as a Fyros as I felt it was much more difficult to travel to the other towns in Fyros as it was other lands because you had to face yellow and red mobs to get there. But, now, if you find the correct route, you can easily walk untouched from Pyr to Dyron. Thesos is a tougher walk but as nothing is available in thesos that ya can't get in dyron, so this serves as an example where the difference here doesn't really serve to any significant detriment and adds to the diversity in the game.

So...you start some anti-matis bashing, but you don't want to hear from any Matis players?jared96 wrote:I'd like to minimize self justifications to the greatest extent possible. Enjoy your echo chamber.

Just ONE thing:jared96 wrote: 1. Ya can safely dig hi level exe right outside of Yrakis. I am aware of no other location where this occurs.
This node is intendend for a Rite Mission. And as far as I know is buggy.
It should not spawn without being triggered by the mission.
I hope they will correct that soon (tm)
Ah, and another thing. sorry:
Yrkanis has the Ragus/Gingo Ring about wich so many newbes complain.
Should this be removed also?
I mean, its actuall NOT a benefit.
(appart from being avoidable with a bit of thought)

I think Ragus/gingo ring actually IS a benefit for newbs because it encourages teamwork and helps train aggro dodging and sneaking skills
Same thing is true for Goc btw

Re: Game Inequities (Non-PvP)
The exc 200 amber spot that you are referring to may be nice, but it's beng.... nothing super uber or game breaking, imo. You'd still need to mix it with other bits to make it really good. Won't break my heart to see this nerfed, though. From my understanding it's for rite but... is that rite even implemented?

Re: Game Inequities (Non-PvP)
I've always thought that the higher level towns in Fyros being in higher level zones was a significant advantage to being a Fyros. You can walk right outside of Dyron and dig up to q200. Also mobs seem easy to avoid in the desert with no foliage to block the view. Aren't desert and jungle generally considered the easiest digs now? Lakeland is likely the toughest dig above q200 but since the Loria and HH tps were turned on a year ago, its not really tough anymore either. Nexus forest supremes are nice but with everyone racing to level 250 these days, probably not all that significant in the grand scheme of things.jared96 wrote:There can be differences without making a player feel bad about a game choice. Another racial disparity that you might want to consider is the properties of named and bosses from each above ground region. If you look at the looted exc/sup mats available, I would say offhand the the desert has the best jewel mats, the jungle has the best weapon mats. Probably Matis is third best and Lakeland has the worst. *Riveit ponders pushing Shooketh to Loria. *

Re: Game Inequities (Non-PvP)
Yes that rite is one of the few that can be completed. Though I have no idea why it's Q200, if I recall correctly the rite only needs Q50.
In any case, it's only 1 material, and only up until Q200, once you're past there it's of even more limited use.
Dyron has Q200 materials right outside of town, nice and safe, makes for easy grinding of crafting. Personally I would have gone for that over 1 excellent source.
The jungle has, in my opinion, by far the easiest Q250 zone to dig in out of all the lands (I don't actually have any experience in the lakelands, but I've heard that ones fairly hard), which is more beneficial than either of the 2 above in my opinion.
Different lands have different perks.

Re: Game Inequities (Non-PvP)
make nexus a PR dig to even things up
otherwise all is in order
matis - gingo's but access to some east ex early on, mid level easy, shame about the fun GoC later (named wandering mobs mainly)
pyr - gingo's but easily avoidable, walk in the park at higher levels
lakelands - now the high level tp's about not the pain it used to be
zorai - easymode

Re: Game Inequities (Non-PvP)
Well with respect to the issue of Nexus, is it not a contradiction of the OP to exclude matters PvP... and then question the balance of an open PvP zone? Keep it forest... we don't really need another q200 PR zone, do we?

On the other hand, it does effect all player equally.dakhound wrote:make nexus a PR dig to even things up
There is nohting stopping a Fyros from taking his pick to the forest floor.
Given that any player of any race can start in any land, I just don't see how any of the issues in the original post unfailry affect one race over another.
Then again, I play a matis as my main, so I wasn't supposed to comment here.
