How do you check creature level...?
When I go to attack a "mob" how do I know what level or "con" it is to me?
I keep running into things that are either way to easy or way to hard...
Thanks...

Re: How do you check creature level...?
The color in the left box of your target info.
Sadly, the color codes in it's help are long outdated. The real ones were posted (some time ago) in the forum, but I don't have much motivation to dig that one out, you could as well waste your time doing it instead of mine

Re: How do you check creature level...?
Look at teh brackets that show up when you select a mob, light blue is what you can handle, if yellow or red I suggest you run
Re: How do you check creature level...?
I wouldnt gauge wether you can take a mob by the color of the brackets either...that is waht someone with your level should be able to handle...not necessarily what you could handle.
Seen a many blue monsters destroy characters....the factors in determining the color of the bracket is solely based on your level...if you have crappy armor or weapon you could very well be killed by a green or blue monster.
How can you gauge the level of a monster....well first by what level mats it drops....but then you have to kill it first.
or when you attack it and it takes one swipe at you and drops half your hit points...its probably too tough for you and its time to run.
In a nutshell...i've seen green mobs wipe out characters and i've seen yellow mobs romped by a lower level character...you just have to get in there and mix it up...and make sure you have a speed increase spell for those occasional mobs who a just a little tougher than the brackets suggest.

Re: How do you check creature level...?
This is NOT true. Your lvl has zero effect of the color of one mob, they stay the same all the time - they do not have switched colors when you encounter them 20 lvls later.xasher wrote:....the factors in determining the color of the bracket is solely based on your level...
Edit: Sorry, produced a brainfart myself, confused the target brackets and the boxes in the target info. It is true.
It is true, though, that same color doesn't mean necessarily the same strength. Some mobs do less damage, but have high hitpoints (for example gingos, raspals, lvl 1-50 kipees) . Some mobs seem to be quite overpowered, too (ragus & torbaks in maiden pond, for example - lvl 55 ragus has 4000 hp there...). Still, those are more the exeption than the rule.

Re: How do you check creature level...?
From my experience, it seems that light green is 1-25, green 25-50, light blue 50-75, and blue 75-100. Those are not exact numbers but it follows this kind of progression all the way up to the purple ones.
Re: How do you check creature level...?
It is true -- the bracket color and target box are different measurements. The target window box color is static, using the scales posted. The bracket color is relative to your level.
Re: How do you check creature level...?
Ah, you are right. Sorry, I confused them with the box color of the target info.
