Heya,
I am playing a primary caster (light armour) who occasionally dual wields a dagger and sword if needed. At present, I only have 30 Fight, have basic 20q light amour, and am still on noob Mantis island. I have some spare Fight points, and was wondering what skill tree to invest in for the "after dodge" vs. "after parry" options. I know how to switch modes between dodge and parry, but really can't see any differences or benefits when I do. I have heard some theories that the (future) amour bonues have an impact, light versus heavy, and that 1hd versus dual wield versus 1hd/shield may all alter the equation. So, my questions are if either skill line is useful in my current case, and which would be better?
Thanks.
Thomas
Dodge Versus Parry
Re: Dodge Versus Parry
The equation you speak of is entirely dependant on what materials the armor you are wearing are made out of. The armor type seems to have little effect other than promoting more chances of dodge/parry, but it's mostly dependant on whether or not that materials used to make the items (sleeves, chestpiece, pants, etc) had a high parry or a high dodge mod value.
A shield would effect the equation in an obvious way - since the 1h duel wield doesn't recieve added parry/dodge mod value, the 1h w/ shield would parry/dodge more.
They both have the same effect - nullifying an enemy's attack. The best one would be whichever your armor was built for.

Re: Dodge Versus Parry
Sadly for some obscure reaseon you can't actually see the dodge/parry stats of any armour or weapon, you have to use trial and error. Hopefully they will put these stats in a patch, i dont see why they arent in now tbhkandyfox wrote:The equation you speak of is entirely dependant on what materials the armor you are wearing are made out of. Re: Dodge Versus Parry
In my experience it's much, much easier to craft good items with a high dodge modifier than with a high parry modifier.
It seems foraged mats with a higher parry than dodge mod are almost non existant (Items with a high parry modifier mostly comes from animals, and those are usually inferior to harvested mats in most ways.).
There are foraged mats with a very high dodge modifier, however and gear crafted from those mats will make a difference.
As a mage I'd go with dodge unless i had gear crafted with parry in mind.

Re: Dodge Versus Parry
It is very obvious to the crafter what mats are high dodge OR high parry and most of the upper class crafters tend to market them by name. WTS q70 High Dodge Light Armor....etc....
How do they know?
When selecting mats for the armor, the mats information window displays a ratio bar showing any useful bonuses to the mats whether high dodge, parry, speed, protection...etc....
It is currently weighted upon the shoulders of your fellow tradesman to provide information as to the end result of crafting. Hopefully that will soon change. Until then it is safe to say lock onto crafters who have a known reputation for consistant quality products and add that name to your OMG you are the Best! List...

Re: Dodge Versus Parry
When you are looking at a material, you must switch it over to whatever class you're going to be using the material for.
For instance, you'd need armor shell for crafting armor as opposed to barrel. Looking at this class, you'll see something along the lines of Parry Mod and Dodge Mod.
