There's certainly no hurry, and actually no need, necessarily, to choose either of the K's, even if you want PvP.

Not at all.
I think the Karavan has the most interesting lore tbh.
But the kami is undermanned and outnumbered. Hence i went kami.
Now I PvP as a kami, but fight as a mercenary.

Thats basicly what i was going to tell him, and have a chat with him to find out what kind of guy he was

Read the background to the game and dont rush being any fraction, there is need to be kami or karavan allianed for a long time, play as a neutral and find a good guild (dont go joining the first one who gives you an invite) shop around

Also, neither Kami nor Karavan is inherently good or evil...regardless of the claims each faction tends to concoct against the other.
