Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

you may also add that adding this to client.cfg, you can run wine in windows xp if some other windows program you use needs it and you still have cursor in ryzom.

HardwareCursors = {

(i have it in 2 lines currently, but should work with just {}; too)

actually, those who has problems with mouse/keyboard lockout in windows, may even try this ;-) (completely untested, use at your own risk)

If you speak about Slashdotters and the same... hardly they will come. First, because most of them hate wine. Second, because they are purist, and... are your drivers GPL or privative? Run Ryzon+Wine+Free Drivers good? I don't think so...

Only sometimes your HD just don't start :P

Nah, most problem with GPL drivers are NVidia, not ATI. And a lot of people out there with NVidia.

But, if it works well, then fantastic for all people wanting use it. BTW, good for the one who have make the installation script, all of this is wonderful for me, while it don't takes game developers time :)

Are you asking GF to port ryzom to linux? if so why would you need wine? wine is for running windows programs on linux/bsd.
A linux port would run natively on linux without the need for wine.

It would take a *very* substantial amount of time to port ryzom to linux, even considering that the game can already in opengl mode.
Surely it would be better to add more content than catering to the desire of a very few people. After all it already runs under linux using wine...

you already answered your own question. While wine does run windows executables, it doesn't run them perfectly, and ryzom is no exception. However, a full linux port would take a long time and be very costly. So instead, they make a special version of ryzom that is fully compatible with wine, and you have a port of ryzom.
