Can't connect (error code 1)

Post by needhelp »

When I try to connect the window freezes for about 15 seconds. (Sometimes it goes black, sometimes it just stays where it is) then I get can't connect (error code 1) Since I hate norton internet security a lot, and even when you turn it off it's lying to you and it's not *really* off, I uninstalled it. I also tried turning the windows firewall off altogether. I'm using windows Vista, which might be part of the problem, but I *have* set the program to run as administrator.

At this point I'm pretty much out of ideas.

Last night in Klients there were several people who were having issues. unfrotunatly it just so happens to be on the same night where all of the CSR quit/got sacked/whatever.

Did you make a fresh install in Vista, patching and all of that? Or you just copy your working copy from the desktop?

Just checking, but have you do a "ping ari5.rzl01.gameforge.fr" and reach it?

The cause may be that the client you have downloaded is still configured with the old host addresses after the server move.

In your Ryzom program folder (defaults to 'C:\Program Files\Ryzom' if I recall correctly), there is a file named: 'client_default.cfg'. Open this file with Notepad for example and press Ctrl+F to search for the string 'StartupHost', without the quotes. Verify/edit this line to read:

StartupHost = "rslogin.juk.shards.nevrax.com:40916";

My computer tends to load up Ryzom a little on the slow side and I may not be able to check if I'm actually able to enter the game as I'm a little pressed for time right now, but that seems to have done it, tursas. Thanks.
