Yes the sound works ,in a way, with 0.9.28 but as Blah im running with a soundblaster card, this might make the difference, since it has hardware mixing built in.

You really do not need the patch for wine later than 0.2.27, for the sound to work, actually i have not seen that much of a change adding the patch...

It does run slightly better with OSS emulation than with pure Alsa, go figure.

wine 0.9.29 is released. And seems to be working ok.
one of the things that should be fixed is the handling of commands in bat files. Which means that the patch process might now work directly, i haven't tested that yet , but just in case, next time you patch... please do a backup of Ryzom first ... :)

I have also found two intersting unofficial patches to the sound system that improves sound considerably ( get them here.

The problem with Ryzom not automatically going fullscreen is not fixed, but can be worked around by maximizing the login window and selecting the correct size in the select box in the lover left corner.

that look like rpm is hanging... ( since yum i just a wrapper around rpm)
what distro are you running ?

if some kind of RH / FC you could try to delete the rpm db cache,
look in /var/lib/rpm you should find a couple of __db.00x files (x being a number) move them out of there and try again.

Hello all! I got a new laptop (Sony Vaio FE21B) and Ryzom is definately running faster on Wine/Linux than native in Windows. Too bad I can't get Ryzom's sound working on this machine.

This new patch started a huge problem with my linux. For history I've been playing for 1+ month now and so far installation on my Ubuntu was easy and all patches with instructions here have been painless. Ryzom has been working like a wonder and I've been very happy.

Today I made the patch like normal, but was getting error messages after starting Ryzom.

First there are some 50 files missing from unpack directory and this:
wine: could not load L"c:\\windows\\system32\\client_ryzom_rd.exe": Module not found

After some searching it seems that whole client exe file has been removed from my computer.

I'll try to download a new client and try again (download will take some 4 hours as ryzom downloads seem to always be very very slow even with my fast connection). But I guess that the same will happen again.

Anyone having similar problems or able to give me some ideas where to look for the problem. Installation is standard wine installation suggested in this same thread.

http://is1.itr.no/~zyrom/linux/doku.php says something about Wine having the Copy command but not the Move command. I would try to downgrade Wine a little until they fix that and patch with the perl script instead.

But I'm just guessing

I'm using wine 0.9.27 and all patching in all previous patches have worked without any problems (have always been using that perl script like this time too).

But I did check through file: updt_nl.bat
That file does first destroy older files and then move newer files from unpack directory. That order in that bat file seems to be very odd, but move command not working in 0.9.27 could cause this problem because files are deleted before that move. So there is no possibility for a new try, need to download whole client.

If this is the problem, can always get rid of that by updating that *.bat file to not use move command. The one thing I'm wondering is that why did everything work earlier and not now. And there's been no updates to my operating system, just to state that for knowledge.
