For those of you complaining about not able to get a free 14 days for yourself (which in fact we did thanks to open beta) be aware that if your friend uses the 14 day trial key and decides he or she likes it. Their subscription resulting in that trial gives you one free month of play.

"The "Bring a Friend" program allows each Ryzom player to invite a friend to try Ryzom for free for 14 days. At the end of the trial, if the friend decides to purchase the account, the player who referred him will receive a free month of play!

Our players have been clamoring for us to help them introduce their friends to The Saga of Ryzom," said David Cohen Corval, CEO of Nevrax. "With the Bring a Friend program, we can help our community grow while rewarding our most loyal players with free time within their favorite game."

stellus wrote:So Nevvy will be changing around and fixing a lot of the skills in the upcoming "Patch 1". They become aware of the fact that because of these changes, people may have a reason to pick them up or discard them, but cannot because they've already spent their SP on other things.

So what does Nevvy do? They allow the players to completely redo their skill system so they are able to right the wrong. We're given a free respecification after patch 1 goes live.

Nevvy also realizes that the NA customers are experiencing a lot of lag due to server locations. Nevvy is aware of this and they decide on giving NA players a FREE week of Ryzom.

Next, the player community voices their opinion on how Nevrax should go about attracting new players. Some suggest a Buddy Trial where a current subscriber can invite a friend to try out the game for 14 days. Other players suggest getting some reviews out on major game sites. So Nevvy calls up IGN and invites them to review the game. Then there are some other players who feel that Nevrax should get some boxes out on the shelves at local game stores such as EBGames and Gamestop. Nevrax responds and does ALL OF THE ABOVE. A week later, I find several boxes on display in the stores mentioned above.

And now the community is COMPLAINING? Excuse me friends, but I, for one, am extremely impressed with the way the NA Nevrax CS and PR team is handling things. They are listening to their customers and giving them what they want. I can't think of anything wrong to come out of any of their actions, actions that are meant to give us, the paying customers, what we want. I can't imagine why anyone would complain after getting all of the above benefits, some which we weren't even expecting.

I think some people need to be more aware of what Nevrax is doing for their community and be a little more grateful for the things they've done for us. I mean, hell, we're actually being treated like we're paying them!

I can completely see the point of Stellus's post.

There are a good number of people in the community who have concerns about aspects of the game and voice them in a mature and constructive manner. Even if those concerns are really only those of the individual, and perhaps a few others, they're voicing them in a way that's not basically just saying, "I can't do X-Y-Z - this game sucks!". They're contributing their own thoughts to the community and I feel those posts are welcome.

What Stellus is pertaining to, at least as I read his post, are the people who basically just want to trash on anything Nevrax does - in the game, with its customers, involving membership, etc. etc. They throw out complaints (and I don't even think "complaints" is a valid term in those cases - "grenade throwing" comes to mind, though). As was mentioned, many times their "points" are invalid or just plain off the wall, but these people don't care about that. They're not out to learn more about the game, or understand more about the game, or offer something that might improve the game, or about the company. They're here to trash them, and that's where it begins and ends.

Or, in the best case, perhaps they do have a point to make, they just can't seem to do it without insulting someone else. Whether people agree or disagree, forums like these are intended for people to engage in mature, civilized discourse... not bomb throwing and flame storms. Some people don't understand or respect that.

So.. I, for one, agree with him.

I agree. These whiners should go play some other online games. I remember EQ downtime for patches was 8 hours. Nearly always the patch introduced new bugs and the servers went down for another 8 hours. This usually repeated about 3 or so times before they got it right. And this was 3 years into the game.

This company is doing everything right in my eyes... now all we need is some more product recognition.

Are Tryker fixed yet?

Give the customer what they want? LMAO you gotta be kidding right? how long have they known about Tryker problems and stood by and watch poor little Trykers fall behind everyone else.

I'm sorry but its the biggest issues amongs the multitude of Tryker problems and they arent fixing it.

Thats why I stop playing aobut a week and a half ago.

This game isnt going anywhere but down.

Uhm...Patch 1 is fixing a lot the Tryker issues: quality mats, invisible walls, mob placements. The dev team has notified us of their progess and that they ARE fixing it. Paying attention to CS comments and other forms of updates tend to help you be aware of this info.

To say they aren't fixing it is like saying 2+2 != 4

MMORPGs in general are rather complex and almost universally have birthing issues but all in all, I've been rather impressed with Ryzom and the folks behind it.

The tech support chat folk have been very helpful in every instance so far. Issues ingame with bugs and such seem to be getting addressed in a less random and adhoc process than in other games I've spent time and money on...we're still very early in the launch phase and I can see things only going up from here.

What I dont understand is why all those Ryzom lovers still spend so much time in this forum.

I mean the ones who dont like the game anymore of course have got nothing better to do than filing their complaints here - or throwing dirt. But shouldnt the others be on Atys harvesting, crafting fighting....and laughing their @sses of about the ignorant whiners who left their nodes and mobs to them...?
