If you need protection while digging, you should mix with focus boosted MA parts, its a tip, works fine maybe lose one mat now and then but less dp

At the bottom, it will show your dodge and parry values, and if you mouse-over the values you get more information.
"Dodge: 250. Chances to dodge a blow delivered by an enemy of level 250: 35%"
Equip gear that adds +5 dodge
"Dodge: 255. Chances to dodge a blow delivered by an enemy of level 250: 38%"
equip gear that adds +10 dodge
Dodge: 260. Chances to dodge a blow delivered by an enemy of level 250: 40%
So regular +1 LA adds 3% chand to avoid. A +2 set is actually even less, there are diminishing returns. The additional +5 only raises you up another 2%.
And those numbers are the absolute highest for ideal circumstances, when the attack against you is exactly equal to your base dodge. If the incoming attacks are of lower level or higher level, the + to your dodge value will have even less effect, as you're converging on the min/max chances. (ie if you're 140 dodge you have the minimum 10% chance to dodge a lvl 250 attack, adding +10 to get 150 does not change it at all. And vice versa - a parry of 300 gives you the max 60% chance to parry a lvl 250 attack, while a parry of 308 is still 60% as well.
All this information can be taken from the Identity screen. (Equip a melee weapon you are lvl 140 in and look at parry to get that chance vs a 250 skill)
Lets also not forget you have 0% chance to dodge if you are casting (or like some of us, holding a link). +2 LA will be worthless if you are attacked midcast, but more protection would come in real handy.
So its my conclusion that the usual +2 dodge sets are nothing but placebo effect. The average excellent +2 sets usually sacrifice more than 2% in protection/max vs because dodge mats are usually poor in the other stats.
That being said, I think a supreme set that's +2 AS WELL as high in protection is extremely valuable. May be tough to get with dapper, but good luck to the O.P.

it attacker has -8 on adv.parry, then you parry still stays 300 which gives 60%.
so, getting parry/dodge as high as it gets, is usually a good thing

you sure about this ? i might ofcourse be wrong and DoT may be different than aff, but when i have used DoT against vorax, link stays up even after i get fearedLets also not forget you have 0% chance to dodge if you are casting (or like some of us, holding a link).

My only point is that +5 dodge/parry can't possibly increase your chances of avoidance any more than 3%. If you have 300 parry, but they use adv parry that brings it down 10, and now you're at 290 which gives 55% chance to avoid . (But it's probably not 60% at 300 parry usually either- if they use accurate attack they increase their effective attack lvl up to +30. Those percentages only work for a lvl 250 attack, an effective 280 attack will hit much better. But +5parry still will only increase your avoidance chance no more than 3%)

Those numbers imply a 2.5% increased chance of a complete or partial dodge by switching from +1 dodge LA to +2 dodge LA. Of course, they can't be the whole story, or a yubo would never hit an AoD.blaah wrote:there was q/a about how it works.

A constant change of 2.5% avoidance for every 5 dodge/parry, but there is a min and a max. The minimum chance a player has to avoid a hit is 10% and the maximum is 60%.
So +/- 5 dodge/parry will always change your chance 2.5%, unless you reach those min/max values.
