Need info on mainland Matis missions

Post by ark014 »

Does anyone know a good website giving complete information on mainland Matis NPC mission-givers, their locations, their missions and mission requirements, and mission rewards? And telling if the mission gives Kami or Karavan fame?

Also, what are the benefits of having a high degree of Kami or Karavan fame?

How could my Matis char gain Matis fame -- and what would be the benefits?

Thanks,
Amphiaraus

The best website I can suggest is http://ryzom.raum.com. For civilization fame, I suggest checking out the corporals in the capitals, and taking mostly bandit missions since they'll net you the most fame. ;)

Also it is good to note that missions on the mainland aren't the same as they are on the starter island. The ones on the mainland are mostly only usefull for the fame reward or the odd encycopedia mission. Apart from the those the only other reward from them is some dappars and your not going to be going through a storyline or getting item rewards like on the starting island.

EDIT: This post by sprite explains the benefits of fame well

Should Gameforge overhaul Ryzom's mainland missions?

IMHP mainland missions, like island missions, should offer XP bonuses, meaningful amounts of credits, and sometimes bonus items offered by the mission giver (or loot items taken from deceased NPCs and/or creatures).

Under NO conditions should bonus items or looted items obtained from missions be superior to the best items Ryzom crafters can make -- this would be the undoing of Ryzom's player-economy.

Looted components that a crafter could use to enhance an existing weapon, armor piece, etc. would be acceptable -- this would provide an incentive to do the mission without gutting the player-economy.

I utterly hate childish MMOs like SWG and WoW that make crafters second-class citizens with no meaningful role.

I haven't looked through the wish list thread that was started after Gameforge took over but I'm willing to bet getting the rest of the encyclopedia missions working in game or doing them up more has been mentioned a few times and those do give rewards that are different (like receipes, uping the durability of items you craft, increasing your sap stat a little).

How about...NO.

It is horribly inappropriate to this game. What you describe is a very common, conventional form of easymode, and easymode attracts noobs. *points to signature*

By the way, the currency is called "dappers."

*grin*

Better to read the comments in thread 1th before making a statement like this ;)

And lets face it, missions for fame are already easymode, just repeat a few missions over and over and you get the fame you want. As I see it the only reason why Ryzom hes not as much "noobs" as most games is because the grinding treadmill for xp is so boring that most youngsters lose interest fast.

A bit more variation in ways of getting xp is not that bad imho....

XP can be gained from missions..... by doing normal XP gaining stuff in the course of the mission. Missions that involve travelling to obscure places are ok for that, but my favourites were the ones that involved tracking down and killing creatures of a minimum level (usually highest in region). They gave a purpose to exploring, especially when the mission giver you have to return the gingo skulls or whatever to has wandered off, and you need to find THEM or spend the next week wandering around with a pack full of messy animal chunks - although that is normal Ryzom behaviour anyway ;)

But this is beside the point.
On Atys, you do missions for Fame. eventually you will have enough fame, and be able to do missions for Encyclopedia Rituals.
If you want XP - hunt, or dig, or craft, or do all three.
Or just play the game, and let the XP come to you.

The exploration side of Ryzom is another casualty of the PvP focus, with people demanding fast levels and bypassing huge swathes of the game... level 250 in 2 weeks.. why !?
