Power outage this morning (the 4th)

Post by Marjo »

There was another power outage this morning in the data center between 8:30 and 9 am GMT. As a result all the live shards, Klients, forums and website were not accessible anymore.

Klients, forums and the site are now back and we're doing our best to reopen the shards as soon as possible, what should take a few hours.

From our provider:
With the help of the Telehouse power management team a faulty piece of power supply equipment has been located. This is now being replaced and in the meantime we are using a alternate supply equipment to get the network back up and running.

I'm trying my hardest not to make this a 'negative' post however with all these down times and with people losing items from bags I'm sort of wondering what is going on?

Now we all know hardware failures and hopefully most of us back up so not too much is lost, I know we've had roll back and this isn't a problem, these roll backs should only effect items made/bought/ in the roll back period, however I know of several instances where items were made a long time before as one of my guild mates losing a 250 electric mace(took ages to get) and he also lost a set of 180 amps, I also lost a set of 90 amps that id had for weeks, (id been concentrating on harvesting ;p )

Now surely these items should be on the roll back.........they were there before, I have yet to see a reasonable explanation as to the loss and lack of replacement of these items, just to say "we appollogise for the lose of these items" doesn't quite cover it in my opinion.

I really don't envy your positions just having taken over a new company and all the issues your having, but please start out your customer relations on the right note, don't treat us like mushrooms (kept in the dark and covered in sh*t)

Nothing has changed with the costumer support as far I know. Jolt and Nevrax are still in place. These issues are clearly not Jolt/Nevrax/GFs fault and for the lost items, send in game tickets. Thats the only way you might retrieve them ;-)

Any way, thx indeed Marjo for the info

That was my first thought when I heard about these outages.

Also, if it's a data center with critical equipment in it (e.g. game servers), shouldn't it have a back up generator?!

Or does faulty power equipment (rather than loss of supply) negate that? Maybe the faulty equipment IS the UPS. :p
