Freezing while loading

After selecting a character to load - the loading screen comes up and completes the loading bar...then appears to hang there indefinitely....have to task out to shut it down... - what gives?

Could be networking.
Make sure the game client has full access and perhaps open/forward/trigger the various game ports needed for the game client.

Could also be memory issues.
Make sure paging file is big enough. 1500 min 1500 max is usually good

Same problem here. Since the patch. No networking issues, no firewall issues, no virus scanner issues. I would bet that something got changed in the Video Mode detection and change that has to occur at the end of the load process.

Tech guys! Please take this seriously and don't just blow it off as other software. Worked fine before the patch.

I have an exact same problem. All loads fine, till the load bar hits the very end picture (the little triangle). That picture never fills and the game just freezes there. The only way to shut it down is through the Task Manager.

Unfortunately, this happens 9 out of the 10 times I am trying to load the game. A very frustrating problem, given that sometimes it may take many attempts to just get in. I also checked all my networking and I exceed the game requirments quite well.

Am I just doomed to not being able to play Ryzom, or are there fixes for this out there?

Are you absolutely sure that you do not have networking issues? Some firewall apps like ZoneAlarm and Norton like to cause problems after a patch. Also some routing tables get a bit fussy when server ports and IPs change. Try a full network power down of your modem and router.

You may also need to delete the string_cache files from the DATA folder.

You could also have corrupt interface files. Try renaming your SAVE folder.

Oh, while I am working on this, perhaps I should clarify something. I have no problem logging into the character screen. That part is easy. The problem happens when logging in a character to the server (Cho, in my case), from the character screen. All characters seem to have the same problem.

I tend to agree with Zerlin since we have seen it so many times in the past... the "since patch" thing makes it seem odd though.

What may help you troubleshoot it is turning your textures to low, this will reduce load times quite a bit... it is possible the time needed to load the bigger textures may be causing a time-out environment.

Can't hurt to try...

ll, it's official now. I have tried all I could think of:

1. I have modified and even disabled completely my firewall, and no results. The network power down didn't help either. I seem to have no problem with accessing the character screen, but logging onto Cho freezes me 9 times out of 10.

2. I have recycled the cache files as well, to no avail.

3. Renaming the SAVE folder didn't fix this either.

Is this a problem that has surfaced here before? If so, perhaps a common denominator between all those posters can be found. My friend with the exact same computer specs doesn't have this problem, and he plays from the same city and internet provider, going through the same routers. Go figure!

I have even reinstalled the game twice, but still the same thing. It's the only online game that causes me this problem, and I played with my graphics settings as well, with no results. If anyone can shoot some other ideas at me, I'd be willing to try them. Thanks!

Just downloaded this game and thought I would give it a try. BUT I get the same issues, no firewalls, no protection programs, no video card/driver issues, got all the ports added correctly and no go. Got to the game once and immediant freeze again, only saw a grass hill. Im thinking this may be a coding issue with particular cards....I have a ATI radeon 7000...a bit old for my desktop but my good card died on me. Gonna try it on my newer laptop non ATI to see if any different.
