Breaking News... Discussion

Post by Starla »

Has everyone grown accustomed to ignoring all the stickies? The thread "breaking new..." was posted 16 hours ago and yet I don't see anyone discussing it. This is major news. You have the potential to totally redo your character, undo all the mistakes (and if your not carefull make many new ones). Does anyone have any comments or strategies.

Please post you comments and template suggestions. I for one will be giving up all my side crafting choices and concentrating on just one line of crafting. Currently I have between 35 and 60 levels in every single line of crafting from Armor to Ranged crafting. My main craft is Jewelry which I will pour all my points into with the reset.

Think about it; if you bought patterns you dont use, then dont buy them again. If you have whole lines of crafting you dont use, dont buy them again. If you got into crafting and found you hate it, you could now use those points to buy HP and HP regen stats before using your melee points on them (thus giving you more melee skill choices). The possibilities are nearly endless.

Isn't it gonna be grand...to think of the possibilities...an option like this hasn't rocked the morpg world since heroes decided to let people revamp there character's skills at level 40.

I'm as giddy as a school girl.

actually only been playing the game for like 3 days so it's not really a big deal for me, but i love the idea anyway.

anyone have any idea when the patch will go live ?

The possibilites are a little *too* endless IMO.

For example, I use my first char as harvester only now. Meaning I can use my "supreflous" SP in Fighting, Magic and crafting to buy all stat upgrades and use my harvesting SP for abilities only, creating the UBER-harvester.

Not that I'm complaining, but it seems a little unfair to players joining after the reset.

Actually, there is quite a good bit of discussion of it going on in this thread:

I dont think they really had an easy option to just refund one tree.

Since just about everyone has use SP from one tree to buy another (say you started magic/magic/magic .. you had to buy other skills for other trees). There is also the whole cross tree skills like stat increases and auras ... These things would make it a pain to code refunding one or two trees.

The would have to code around someone purchasing a lvl1 stat increase with say harvesting. The purchasind 2-4 with fight, then 5-6 with harvesting .. so on ... Without knowing exactly what they store when you buy a skill, I am not sure they even track where the SP came from.

But I am happy. This was needed due to the massive changes to harvesting. It also gives people a onetime respec to fix all those minor mistakes. I dont think my character will be much different than it is now (aside from magic and harvesting).

So basically we will have all the skill points we gained with all our levels in all the schools reset? Meaning if I am level 10 in fighting and level 9 in harvest, I'll get 100 skill points to use in only fighting and 90 points to use in harvest? Will it be that simple of a clean slate?

Fancyboy ...in a word yes. You will have a pool of sp equal to what you have earned thus far whether you have spent them or not.

I am very happy about this. Thank you Cerest for pushing for this :) The one small apprehension I have is that when I purchased level by level I could see what worked and what didnt. So, I will purchase my stat increases and the skills I absolutely need and sit on the rest for a while. If I blow all my skill points at once I think I will screw myself up.

The thing to remember is that everything is going to be reset expect for your actual level. This includes how much you have for hp, sp, stamnia, strenght and so on.

Well your right that there was some discussion about this. But based on the title of the thread, It's no wonder I didn't notice it.
