When adding to packer inventory the stacks stay separate.
I guess I'm dumb but I can't work out how to combine them back again.

can't??? thats ridiculous.
That means everytime I go out foraging I have to take all my stacks from the packer and put em in my inventory otherwise I'll end up with gazillions of stacks.

For some reason they thought at first that bugs like server stability, respawn points, etc were more important.
Have to say that in my opinion they're right too. Give them a chance to work out a lot of the more important issues, I think this one can be lived with by most people for the time being?

You can combine stacks, but you need another player to do it.
Start an exchange with another player, put your separated stacks into the exchange window and close the window *without hitting accept* but clicking on the little x in the top right corner. The stacks with same quality and material will then be combined to upto 99 pieces into one stack in your inventory.
If the material stacks exceed 99 pieces combined, you will end up with one 99 pieces stack and the rest in another stack.
Slow, but a good way to do it.
It works with tasks from NPCs, where you have to bring x materials/items, too.

LOL ... of course you can. Don't listen to them.
Find someone you trust... guildie, harvesting partner, whatever. Give them all of the like mats. They will be able to give you back a fully combined stack.

so best way is to accept a task from a local npc, get the stuff they want but never give the item to them and always keep it on you so then they will open trade at any time with you?
