Democracy is cool, but only if the people thinks in your way.

Otherwise, is a non-representative and manipulated data. We still are "few" even if we are the main part.

It migth be a few trying to make some Euros, I don't know, but the worst part are the many that do this only by believed. That's part is ok. The bad part is when "believe" transforms in "fanatism" that don't let you see the forest: "The main part of the community is agaisnt".

I think that the better option for him is the silence. There is too much noise, and after all this, a lot of people will flee if the ryzom.org goes on, only by the fanatism -even disrespect- they have shown to the community.

[EDIT] I agree on the "shush" part
lol yeah the shushing would be great but nah I have a horribly rigid set of morals and depending on the buyer I will go. I even have a replacement game all picked out as well just in case lol

There was no poll that asked if it were a good idea, as far as I know. The only [thread=27621]poll[/thread] I know about asked if this was the best idea.

For you it may be that 'good' is the same as 'best'. For me it isn't.
So this poll might be far from representative

.org would be better for the game than it being bought by a company for the code and scrapped as a mmorpg, and probably better than the game being changed dramatically so as to reach the lowest commom denominator (like a certain popular game).

There are obviously also better options, such as a company with vision who can see what makes Ryzom such a good game and intend to expand on that, possibly even employing current developers and support staff.

While we know nothing of the competing offers and plans, I for one have no intention of supporting the .org project. I might be pledging support/money for them to bid against a much better solution for all I know.

I was wondering...

Does ANYONE know who the other bidder is?
Or does anyone know what the othe rbidder is going to do with the rights?

I don't.

And I'm not going to be happy when I find out Ryzom is wiped out of existance because this unknown bidder won.

I can't see why any bidder would wipe Ryzom out of existance, that's alot of money to spend getting the rights to it for no return.

If your own product is predicted to live long enough to make up for the bidding for Ryzom, and all your company's resources is put into your own product. It's a tactic not uncommon.

But fact is, I DON'T know, and I can't find out who the other bidder is.
I'm not comfortable with that.
I like Ryzom how it is, Ryzom players play Ryzom for how it is. A company doesn't buy Ryzom because they like to play it somuch, they buy it because they believe they can make a profit.
That's how I look at it.

Yep I'm not disagreeing on that but the really expensive part of MMOs is the design stage and while they might bid on Ryzom to use it to build another MMO I can't see that being the only reason. If it was they'd be better off withdrawing and letting ryzom.org win and getting the code for free. Anyhow we should find out who has won the bid and what their plans are soon so I'll leave it and wait untill then :)

Some news from Ryzom.org about the delay.

(google translator from a post by Thanys)
------------------------------------------
The audience envisaged at the beginning of week was deferred to one does not know when. It would seem that the Eurotunnel (http://www.abcmoney.co.uk/news/282005114.htm) business, which is treated in this moment with the same court, has priority. The receiver of Nevrax is also that of Eurotunnel, as well as representing creditors.
