Simulation of a world and roleplaying (in the RPG sense) aren't necessarily the same thing, though they cross over a little.
Would you care to explain what that means in relation to what you quoted? Also not quite seeing where you would place SoR in that distinction.

Despite it's weaknesses, Ryzom has three major strengths that are just too awesome to ignore: The harvesting, crafting, and skills system. No other MMO I've played even comes close.

The complexities and nuances of the craft system, while still remaining very simple at the core, is just incredible. The prospecting/harvesting system is way better than the just ride around untill you find a resource node system you have in most games. And finally, the no actual class, everything is just a matter of skill levels thing makes it so that you can run with the same small group of friends all the time without ever getting too bored.

Tired of melee? Fine, switch to LA and heal or nuke for a bit. Tired of healing/nuking? Fine, swtch to HA and tank for a while. Certain people tend to fall into certain roles based on preference, but the important thing is you don't get locked into one role in a group situation, where the class system in most games does exactly that. There's no sitting around a city for hours spamming "LF1M need healer" or "LF1M need tank" for hours. Everybody is a healer, everybody is a tank, everybody is a nuker.

I also like the fact that you can max out any and all of the skills given the time. Being a master swordsman doesn't preclude the possibility of becoming a master elementalist, or a master craftsman. There's just no limit on how much you develop your character, other than the limit of how much time you choose to devote to a particular skill tree.

I think I've covered it before but I can write it up for you if you really want and aren't just baiting for something to be snarky about.

Would you prefer to just have some of us assume the usual ?

You and those playing like you are simming and the rest of us are just playing an RPG...

It's more the other way around, but I'm assuming from your reply that you're not interested and people are just looking for an excuse to snark.
