After reaching crafting 21 I see that it splits into melee weapons, armor, jewelry, & ranged weapons. However, the tool seller doesn't sell a tool to make ranged weapons & ammo. There are tools for the others.
I remember reading that ranged weapons weren't implemented well or somesuch. I'm a slow player, only 10-12 hours a week, so I expect it would be a long time before I could make anything mainland useful & maybe the devs will fix whatever the problem is with ranged weapons by then.
So the question is: Is it possible to make ranged weapons on Silan? Is it possible on the mainland? Are ranged weapons just a myth?

Ranged weapons may have some drawbacks, but are being looked at for upgrades. They are not however broken or useless.rakehell wrote:

Your ploblem though: they don't exist on Silan. You can't buy, craft, or use them while on the training island- will have to wait until you get to the mainland.
Hold out for them, its worth it!

One thing for when you do get to mainland and try ammo crafting...ammo is heavy if you just crank out a bunch of pistol ammo you may hope you are next to the stable where your packer is, first time I made a bunch I thought I was bugged or stuck or something until I fathomed out that I weighed so much I couldn't move. Fortunately I offloaded enough that I was able to sort of sliiiiiide to the nearest merchant.
Keep in mind Ryzom has no option to drop stacks of things on the ground while you go sell, then come back to pick it up. The only drop option is called "destroy." Or you can trade things to other people.
Also if you are crafting and your bag is full (even if you are not overweight,) you can leave the "take item" window up while you move things to merchant or packer. Not forever but perhaps long enough to make room. Or, you can hit the drop button. You still get the xp for making the item but wouldn't be able to keep it since you are out of room.
