Hi all... I come from many MMorpg's and am enjoying my 1st couple of days in Ryzom. I do have one question about the skill trees though; Does everyone in end game become pretty generic? I would think that since you can level up everything, that eventually, everone would try. More specifically, what i mean is - Can pretty much everyone fire off the "uber fireball" and back it up with the "uber sword of fighter" ?
I definitely find the skill system very unique and pretty cool, but one thing i always liked in other games was having to know everyone's roles in a group/raid. If everyone is a cleric/wizard/tank, then how do you decide where you fit in ?
Thanks! and hope to see you soon on the mainland (if this company sorts out their problems that is

People usually decide what role theyre in before going in a fight.
As for your example, casters use light armor usually as the heavier armor penaltizes the magic, so basically you dont have time to switch equiment (as in armor) fast enough to be 2 roles in one fight.
But yeah a tank in heavy armor can also fire off a "uber fireball" but only like one or two, while a mage setup can fire five in the same time.
As for the skills, there for sure some skills most everyone tries to level up, like healing, but speaking as combat skills they split up when you go up in levels, so you rather specialize in a special skill. like one fights sword and shield other likes wielding two handed maces.
getting up a single skill to a hight level doesnt take too long, but what you describe i think is a jack-of-all-trades thing, and that takes a long long time. In theory you can max out all skills in say five years playtime.
But as you noticed, in Ryzom noone has a set role, it helps if people set their "titles" to what role they want to do, or you talk about it first who wants to do what, works pretty good usually.
Well hope this helps a bit, might not be the perfect answer.

Thanks for the reply. The armor and the titles are both good points that I didn't think about.
So say I'm leaning more towards a "wizard" type of build. How much should i worry about HP's ? Obviously the more the better, but it's kinda weird being a mage and working on fighter skills.

Re: Another Newb
yeah if you only do fight for for hps well you could say its odd, but i believe many do that.
As for the titles .. when people doing that it helps for sure, but not too many put their title to what they do currently, rather its what they like to read there there also a few neutral (special) titles which mean nothing in particular.
I think once you play a little you get used to the non-classification we have here.

1 more question (for now) ;
I haven't been able to find any "tree" breaking down each and every stanza for every skill. Is there one online somewhere? (there's gotta be!)
