"Instead, it will be replaced in "patch 1" by a boost in the speed at which the quality raises from 0 to the specified quality."

Ok .. are the rate portions of the extraction plans changing as well? Currently on live using rate 1 will give you q100 in a few swings, rate 2-3 are not even needed unless you are going over q150.


Anyone on the test server care to comment about quality rates? Rightnow on live there would be almost no reason for boosting the speed at which the quality raises from 0.

You have still a lot to learn, young grasshopper.

Rate is increasing the amount of mats you get per foraging step, not the speed a recource is rising to the max qual. While at rate 1 ypu get 0.1, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0... rate 4 is giving you 0.2, 0.6, 0.9, 1.3, ...

its allready in effect on the main server. theres alot of discussion on the forums but its prettymuch usless now. i wish they would have just lessened the size of the quality boost instead of ripping our foraging ability to shreds. i am tryker and it was a wonderful thing to have. i knew it was too good and was going to be changed but pulling a bait and switch is too much. i never would have spent 80 SP for this when i could have only spent 20 on another Harmful rate or speed stanza.

i am hoping they will either reinstate its original purpose just with less potency or at the very least refund our SP. as far as i know this was the only way to get max experience from foraging and i think every job should have the ability to get max experience not just magic and fighting.

I don't know what they are doing here. a stanza like 3 1 4 yeilds as much as a stanza 1 3 4, at least where I've been harvesting.

The big problem I see is the diminishing returns on experience. They've made a gaping hole now with a big hurtle at the end.

Say you get to L50 when you can start extracting Q100 materials. Well, you can't extract Q150 until 100. At L50 extracting, pulling 1 mat at Q100 will get you 3000xp, but at Level 90, pulling 1 mat out at Q100 will give you about 300xp.

What people did in the past, and whats been nerfed is using material specific extraction stanzas which allowed you to increase the quality you pulled -- above the base skills, so even though you could only pull Q100 mat out, with material specification you could pull Q150 out.

One could argue that it wasn't meant to be that way, yet be that as it may, harvesters that have reached 100 now have an unfair advantage over harvesters just starting out. I estimate it will take 10X as long to level to 100, and yeild 20% of the dappers.

How are they going to fix this -- if they intend to. I read even more nerfs coming to harvesting, will just make the situation worse.

One thing they should do is increase the Q you can pull every 10 levels, so that at 50, you can pull 100, at 60, you can pull 110 ... this would balance the xp issue out and make it acceptable.

i like that idea. i thought that something was very wrong with the hurdles put in place between each new quality stanza. exp would drop and the amount of exp needed would increase. then when you finally get the new quality stanza it only brings your exp up to around 1.5 to 2k experience. when i found the mat spec stanzas i was so happy to finally see max exp.

You mean speed-rate-quality, right?

That's pretty obvious - rate 4 gives you 50% more mats per harvesting step than rate 1. Speed 4 increases the speed of the steps by 50% (meaning reducing the time a step takes). So of cource 4-1 gives you as much mats as 1-4. (It's better to use 1-4 than 4-1, though, since you pay focus and have a chance to damage the source for each step)

They are doing exactly this with Patch 1. Although qual +10 only if I'm not mistaken (meaning q20 with lvl 10, q30 with lvl 20, etc). I just hope the adjust the exp then, too.

*pokes* override. You told me it was worth it to spend that 80 SP. Its a good thing I didn't quite make it back to the city before they patched. I hope they do make it increase every 10 levels, that would help the xp progression go more evenly and less painful.

you can't do q100 materials until lvl 60. I'm doing the lvl 40 to 60 grind right now and I can't believe it.

If this new patch was a person I would take a big stick and hit it until it was out of it's misery.

WTG guys. next time go to the dev meetings sober so we can get some functionality added instead of this.

Must admit, it's REALLY hard to take someone with that nick seriously..on the other hand, I didn't realize this would end up being my freaking forum nick or I'd have picked something else.
