My username name is public (it used on all my postings for one thing), and I can't hide that in anyway. My account is strictly between me and Nevrax, it used for billing, and therefore contains private data which I have allowed Nevrax to collect in exchange for the right to play the game. My email is only available in the account information. It is explicit between me and Nevrax. Now this (hopefully only the username and email) is suddenly in the hands of a private organisation without my knowledge (until I recieve the email). That is the problem, it shouldn't have happend at all but it did.
Consider this, you use an online bank system. It contains data which only you and the bank should know, now someone who works there have (some) of the data and contacts you with it.
One word comes to mind, phishing. I seriously doubt that is the motive at all, and not what I am implying at all, but if you deal with issues like these on a daily basis you would be daft to trust it completely.
