I am a crafter and love to make things to sell. The screenshots look amazing, characters are customizable, and while I do not like their apartment style living, at least guests can come over.

Then I read the review (link posted earlier in this thread). I was amazed at all the difficulties the reviewer had in getting started in the game. The fact that he had to go through a bunch of boxes at the store to find one that had the disks he needed to install the game was ridiculous. I don't believe this company is mature enough to sell a game. Errors like the ones the reviewer listed should never occur. I'm sure they missed a lot of potential gamers simply because they got the game home, could not install, and instead of looking for a fix just gave up.

The review has changed my mind about trying Ryzom. I don't intend to spend several hours at a computer store trying to find a box with all the cds included. And I would never order this game from an online store- god, imagine the time it would take you to get a box with a complete cd package- lets see takes 6-7 business days to get the first one, nope wrong cds, takes 6-7 days to return and then 6-7 days for the next box, nope wrong cds, repeat until you either run out of effort or the vendor just decides to return all its copies of Ryzom back to the company that made it and tells them "Forget it, we'll only deal with companies that have it together from now on." I would think the least this company could do is to provide a download link for customers with this problem.

On the subject of not enough gamers... Horizons and other companies have had the same problem... the solution... Free Downloadable Trial. Let people try the game for 7-14 days. If you are an unknown company with a relatively un-advertised game you had better consider this option or those gamers who paid the initial box fee are going to be leaving too.

So I went from wow to uhuhh... Yeah right... maybe if you survive 1-2 years I might come back and see if your game is in the bargain bin.

The problems with the boxes and store ditrabution have been handled for the most part. And you can download it if you wish. As far as not enough people, the game is not this empty wasteland that some (mostly guests and unregistered people not even in the game) are making it out to be. I see people all the time in game.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out. Visa check cards (atm cards with a Visa logo) are pretty standard. You can get Visa gift cards at any major bank in the US, including Bank of America. As for Amex it's not as standard as you think. Many companies just don't want to accept it becuase of the fees they charge for processing payments.
