Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Because people get oh-so-lonely and need companionship. :o

Sorry, couldn't resist :D More ontopic, I'm sure they'll tell us once they have some real dates.

Some of us are not on the Mysterious Xzaviers site, and obviously do not have access to all the information you do....so why don't you enlighten us in a slightly less aggressive tone....
Wouldn't call it mysterious, take a look here. Hope that helps. :)

The longer the silence, the more people are leaving. I'm starting to think that this "deal" that was looking "possitve" might have gone sour.

Cho is about to be put on life support. I'm not sure what the current numbers are for active players on Cho, but I would suspect it's gotta be in the low 100's, if that (peak hrs on the weekend). I know one of the largest guilds on server had a mass exodus to another MMO (Last I heard they had 10 members active tops).

Not sure how things are looking on Aris but I assume they are along the same lines.
High Officer of The Pyr Militia (Aris)
The least liked guild on Arispotle to date.

Guild Leader of Infinity (Currently Inactive - Aris)

Most feared PvP guild on Arispotle to date.

SoR ~ SWG ~ SRO ~ RFO ~ WoW

Waiting for the SoR devs to make an update since April 2004 (besides Mounts & OP's. Don't even bother mentioning Ring).

TBH, it doesn't look great anywhere ATM... but even without the recent bad news, what happened on Cho probably would have happened either way.

Many folks went to Cho to escape an illusion, and got a new reality. Players new and old went to Cho for a new start and got gang banged by the folks that couldn't pass muster on Ari.

It's like winning the Special Olympics there from what we see on the forums, the winners are those that were losers on Ari... The losers are those who thought it would be a server for new players and guilds, to start off fresh with a chance to own an OP... The Ari server rejects and losers banded together and took it over... They are however winning over the ghost town they created...

Seems frankly idiotic to me. "Hey, this game is in financial trouble and undergoing receivership, let's all jump ship before anything else is said so we can reduce its value of existing subscribers and screw over those who feel the least bit more optimistic!"

That's, imho a bit off, not to mention "centric"... There may be a few players that, honestly, are not that concerned about the health of the company and are playing to have a gaming experince, that's all. That, without mentioning that your argument seems to imply "hey just keep staying here, despite having reasons to leave, just to please other players and the company". I personally will play until I decide not to play anymore, simple as that. I wonder if Ryzom had been a Wow-like financial success, the concerns and simbiotic-relationship would be in the other way round.

There may be plenty of reasons for leaving, including yours, that "frankly" are not idiotic and based on neither mantaining the assets of a company nor pleasing optimistic players. What about (hypothetical, of course):

* "in this situation, I would not expect major content additions for a while, even if the game is bought, they may need some time to...."

* "the game seems to be stalled, with no new players, I am not finding other refugees to play with, I cannot wait for days just to team up".

* "believe it or not, there is a risk of closing servers. I have simply decided not to risk experiencing how after 3 months, it tanks. Since I am trying to find a new place to call home, I'd rather bet on another game. I'm in for a long while"

* "I have enjoyed Ryzom for a while, but it's time to move on. The fact that the game may be in a not-so-healthy status is just another factor".

Those were a few, just made up. Implying that it is idiotic to leave and that if you do, you are being nocive to the company -- yet alone on purpose -- and "being unhelpful" and not "sticking"... well, a bit exagerated. I would expect a player to play for as long as he finds it worth it based on mostly his own interest, and specially not try to make him feel guilty because if you leave, you are "screwing over those who stay" ....

And finally, yes, there is the snowball effect. The more players leave, the more people will find the servers emptish. It happens in RL too.. You go into a night pub or a restaurant, you may want to leave, if it seems empty. Don't get me wrong, you can stay alone and enjoy an excellent dinner, or you don't mind if there are 3 or 500 customers, even the meal may be better if you are alone than if you were 500, you have the option to stay, but that's at your own will and interest. But stay to have dinner just to please the cook?

Theres also another variation of this that applies to more veteran players. Since the future of the game is up in the air at the moment, I'm not particularly motivated to grind any of my skills (or log on in general) only to have the effort I put in go to waste if the game shuts down, restarts on 1 server, or whatever. There are no new subs coming to Cho, a new server that really needs the people in order to function. No new blood, no growing population for me to help level, craft for, etc.
So wheres the motivation for me to stick around and grind for no reason. I can go away, leave the game, and come back later if I please. There won't be any real change to the server as its all frozen at the moment. People are leaving since theres no one to team up with to hunt at their levels. Others are simply stuck on Silan, getting more frustrated by the day.

what seems "fankly idiotic" to me is logging into a game that I don't particularly want to play anymore simply because it might make a few peoples IG lives a bit easier. Aris had a big veteran population. Cho doesn't. It needs new subs in order for it to work. Without those, theres no point in logging in. No one to craft for, no one to hunt with, so people are leaving... and rightfully so

Nothing has really changed. The various discussions and negotiations have reached a point where everyone is now waiting for the legal process in France to go through (the penultimate stage of which happens on the 5th as you know) so everything can get up and running again. Will Ryzom die? No. Are they allowed to say who has come up with the best offer? Not yet. Are there enough interested parties to make things interesting? Hell yes. Sit tight, the ride isn't over yet.
