Is Silan empty?

Post by gretchen »

I'm out of town for a week (2 more days!) and in the meantime I've been haunting the boards and looking for newbie questions I can answer.

Where did they all go?

The Newcomer welcome board used to have a couple questions an hour pop up. It's too quiet in there, did the newbies learn the search function, or is no one joining even the free trial? I think I understand that no one can register as a paying member but I thought people could still go on the trial.

Maybe it's because no-one can't get out of the island, the "older" new players are forced to stay there, so they can answer the questions. Also why ask questions about main lands, if You can't even get there. Also I think many are little carefull to start new game, if they don't know what kind of future it has, if it has it.

Yeah, sofia's probably onto something. We've got a nice little community of experienced newbies growing on Silan so we can answer a lot of the questions before they get repeated on universal chat.

I actually did use the search function today for a few things. I'm still not quite sure how to obtain a catalyzer, but I do know the double exp, heh.

I really hope we are allowed to subscribe sometime in the near future. Even a singl 24 hour period of allowing subscriptions would be nice just so we could move on rather than waiting in Silan for a month+. It probably will be helpful in forcing me to branch out and level up all of my skills, but I would rather hone my harvesting techniques on the mainland :)

Don't worry though, there's plenty of us newbs out on Silan island, we aren't scared away quite so easily

I'd say it was an initiative by players to help new people in game more than usual. Seriously, more happy players = more players who want to stay = more potential subscriptions = better chance of there being a mainland to go when this "transition" is over...

Or maybe that's just my current holy war.

Cats are mined out of the ground by outposts. Depending on the level of the outpost, better quality cats are produced. For instance, a QL50 cat will double the XP earned from any skill that's currently at less than 50th level.
