Well this patch only compounded the problems faced by tryker foragers. If you did not take advantage of this mat spec, you were left far behind on levels. Unlike other races, there are no ql 100 and ql 150 mats in trykerland to help with the xp. Its either a slow grind on lvl 50 mats, a slow grind on ql 100 or 150 mission mats that provide no resources whatsoever. Or a slow grind in the borders with lots of DP.
Now some of us who did not use mat specs have no way to catch up. I have another 30 levels before I can manage to pull out ql 100+ mats. I keep getting ql 99 on all of my sources. So I am left far in the dust and it will be a slow slow slow slow grind to ever catch up.
Of course some people were calling for nerfs. They were the same people that have already hit level 200+ and don't want anyone to catch up to them.
Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
Heh 2p on the way!
I don't understand this concept that trying to advance your character is automatically powerlevelling. If you buy increased damage and improved accuracy level so you can hit consistently and for more damage, you can take on harder mobs, and get more xp, and level more quickly. This is called progressing through the game.
The whole point of the actions made out of stanzas is that it _encourages_ people to purchase stanza bricks and assemble actions that allow them to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of what they do. But there are people here who seem to think that anyone who does buy stanzas and uses them to make harvesting more effective is a powerleveler. Killing off those bricks because they are too powerful is a bad response to it, especially if in game they still say that they have an effect that they no longer have!
As for my own personal situation, I finally hit a harvesting level that does allow me to get the harvest specialisations, so I bought a number of them and then a patch was applied that stopped the bricks doing what was advertised in the brick description. Why should I think this is a reasonable patch?

Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
I have to agree. Tryker has been broken and they have known since beta. They nerfed us further instead of taking care of the problem. This does not bode well for the managment of the game. There is nothing more frustrating than managment that wants to nerf skills and ignore problems that have been imbalancing from the beginning.
Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
Having a group of lvl 100+ killing gibbaïs in Heretics hovel is 3k xp per 10 second and endless gibbais to kill, one who keeps pulling, 1 taunter, 1 melee/off mage and a healer.
Use blind for xp and it makes harvesting for 3k slow as hell.
But then again the devs arent much familiar with the ingame they just do what they think is "balancing" the game

Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
I was a bit harsh you are right on that and my apologize but..aelvana wrote:Those skills were purchased by most for the sake of powerleveling, not harvesting. The harvesters in my guild were all well aware that a nerf would undoubtedly be coming, and whipped up to high levels over the past couple days. That is what was happening. How did I provoke an angry response in vocalizing this?
EDIT: I still see the point that an undocumented change was made. In any other case I would support a refund. But for skills purchased to powerlevel... I expect blind may be nerfed, and I'd just feel cheesy as hell if I asked for my blind to be refunded knowing I used it just for leveling.
You can't tell me blind which is supose to do a certain thing which is make a mob miss more and get hit easier but does a totally diff thing and make it a puching bag that is frozen which is not the same as in the description of it.
Is the same as...
A skill which was working exactly as its description like the specializations did.
So yes if you went out and bought blind to powerlevel your chr because it is doingsomthing it was not stated in the description to do then you should not get sp back if they change it.
But thats not the case with this set of skills and that would be no different then them deciding to make your double damage on your attacks staza instead do a little visual effect for sparkes and no double damage. That wouldn't be what you paied your hard earned sp for now would it?
You say they didn't hurt the class with this nerf? I can still get the same xp in a good 2-3 person team as my fighter / mage with out blind btw that i use to be able to get with my old forager with the specializations no matter what you may beleive and anyone that trys and say any different is just lying to themselves because i have done both as im sure many ppl have and i know it can be done.
So all the other classes get to pull together and get full xp if they want except harvesters because grouping is worthless to them in relation to xp gains.
I personally am having a harder and harder time finding high Q items for my fighter not to mention the decay rate which i know is being fixt but needed to be done before this if they were going to do it. And before I get told to join a guild I am in a guild but that isn't an end to all problems because the people that were mining mats get tired of doing it all the time for so little and there is less and less mining the high level mats it seems.
So this fix is fine for all those ppl in your guild that powerleveled there chrs up to 250 but what about all of the people that are starting now? They just got a slap in the face when they find out that Fighters and Mages can get double the xp as them by doing somthing that is allot less boring.
As I said, I don't even use my forager anymore because it was too boring before and I enjoy fighting for the fun but I can see that no matter how you want to slice it the newer foragers didn't need another nail in the coffin.
I do like this game allot but I am really worried abt the message they are sending to ppl abt not being concerned about all of the time involved in building the chrs and trying to get usefull skills only to see them made useless with no comment on any refunds of SP or respecs.
Someone else above stated that in other games you usually don't get credit back for skills they nerfed and ppl are not crying for there points back. Well in answer to that, there are allot of games where this wouldn't matter because you can lower skills to raise other skills like UO. Or in
COH after they nerfed toomany ppl they had 3 respecs you could do to remake your chr after they made skills worthless, so that is obviously not the case.
Is all they did was make the people that had the skill like the people in your guild at a severe advantage over people trying to start out.
Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
I still dont understand why everyone is up in arms about this NOW ... The patch notes stat that there will be a different effect come 'Patch 1'.
Patch 1 itself is going to change harvesting in more ways than just this. This is only an interim fix ... slightly ad hoc but so are many things that happen in RL not to mention a game.
With the changes to harvest coming why not wait and see before running off claiming the sky is falling?

Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
Yeah raising how fats Q increases is CRAP. the least they could do is make it GENTLE the processes like TERRAIN SPEC.... that was the main advantage, sing you could could get the same (or slightly higher) Q by using Gentle Q (level X-1) instead of Aggressive Q (level X). So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let the revamped specs make for gentler extracts. take away the Q bonus but dont take that away too!
and if they take that away then they sure as *hell* should refund points.
then again, since i READ the text of skills and buy based on that, and since there are AT least 6 other stanzas in FIGHT and MAGIC where text DOES NOT match (sometimes not at all) what the stanza does, it'll be just an extra 50% added to my already WASTED SPs.

Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
I think they probably will refund points. If the patch 2 ideas on the test server are carried across, then its a fundimental rewrite of the harvesting rules, at which point they will reset the SP and we will re-buy skills. I guess that perhaps they just don't want to do that every patch, because having to rebuy your skills each time a patch comes out would quickly piss people off in a new and as yet unexplored fashion.
Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
Server crashes from 100 different people pooling up on the trainers also ... last few crash tests anyone?

Re: Please refund material specilizations in next patch.
I was told the issue with Specialization was the experience being gained from using it - so why didn't they just subtract 33% from the total?
Yes, that's an indirect suggestion.
