Hi all,
I want to know if it is possible to automaticly reset missions after some time. For example while hosting a scenario some time, it might be possible that for some reason missions dont work any more like intended, so would be nice to reset them again.
Is there a way to do this easily?
I thought of doing a timer that resets the act after some time, but that might possible reset the players too...
resetting missions?

I use a timer/mission complete combo for my Saughter Research scenario.

Re: resetting missions?
Something I'm struggling with as well. I know Rushin told me it somehow seems possible to 'automatically' reset acts, but ... I was hoping to take this a step further.
The possibillity for players to reset the scenario and change acts the Pavlovian way. No dogbiscuits for me however as I seem to have gotten myself stuck.
The idea was a 'button' for resetting (IF manipulation -> Start Act 1) and one for advancing to the next Act (IF manipulation -> Start Act 2). The reset button is present as a permanent entity and I was thinking of linking it to a seperate permanent timer so it's not a one-shot use. The next act trigger doesn't need a timer, it's a one-shot use anyway ... but for some obscure reason it doesn't seem to advance the scenario to the next act on manipulation, whereas theoretically it should be possible.
Any advice, pointers, even different ideas on how to cope with player triggering acts or resetting would be highly apreciated.

This gave me an idea. A kind of branching story based on players decisions.calel wrote:Something I'm struggling with as well. I know Rushin told me it somehow seems possible to 'automatically' reset acts, but ... I was hoping to take this a step further.

But, what do you mean by 'manipulation'. For instance, you can have when player enters a zone, act 1 starts, or after diolague. Not sure what you mean... I will try to work on my plans, probably if you complete this mission, go act 5, if this one act 3, the 5 branches and so on. Different every time you play!
But if you could specify a little more I think I might be able to help you.

Yeah, I have toyed with this, both within an act or through branching acts. Gets crazy complicated very quickly, but I'm seeing where it leads me. Maybe one day I'll get a scenario finished that has mutiple endings, but who knows...Ring seems so unstable that I get frustrated building or playing it at the moment (yes, I turn off my firewall which seems to help a little).zangan wrote:This gave me an idea. Re: resetting missions?
Sounds like a lot of fun to make a scenario with different endings, but an anoying part is that you have a limit number of objects you can place in the whole scenario. If you use 20 objects in the first act, you have only 80 left for the rest of the scenario...nephy13 wrote:Yeah, I have toyed with this, both within an act or through branching acts. Re: resetting missions?
Well, that is true. Is why I considered having separate acts in a single map - you then have plenty of objects to fill it. You can then have 100 entities (creatures, npcs and event handlers) in each act. Think of movies that occur in one (or a few) location rather than many - they are the ones that can really have depth.sx4rlet wrote:Sounds like a lot of fun to make a scenario with different endings, but an anoying part is that you have a limit number of objects you can place in the whole scenario.
