Alright, that makes plenty of sense to me.
What about my SAP recharge stat (wisdom I believe)? Since I am speccing in melee for right now should I raise it that much or wait until I have more points to spare as I am spending magic SP in con and meta.
Newbie question about Skills and skill points and the like...

I can't stress this point enoughnaratuul wrote:Raise your sap stats at every opportunity- but as far as amps are concerned don't upgrade your amps just because you have raised your int and can wear a higher level.
Upgrade your amps based on two criteria:
1) upgrade when you have to upgrade in order to use your newly learned spells.
2)upgrade if you can find a set with better casting stats.

The 'in between' levels of amps gain you 5 boost to stats (HP or sap bonus on your amplifiers), this will NOT help you, but will surely drive amp crafters mad.
Amps which match the spell levels are better for several reasons:
- the crafter can use the appropriate Q of mats (we have stock of mats that match those key Q's, I myself get rid of for space reasons anything which is 'between' levels whenver i can).
- your resale value is much higher on the amps, as other players can wear them as soon as they train the skills to get the spells (if they have maxed their Int at every opportunity).
Amp crafting is one of the most subtle and mysterious arts on Atys (PVP jewel craft may be harder arguably), don't make us any crazier than we had to be in the first place to play in the pre-craft screen for hours on end figuring out how to make the best gear

So, while you should max your Int continuously, it may not be worth it to upgrade your amps just because you 'can'.
One extreme example is at level 200, you won't need to upgrade until you both get spells that require, and can wear q230 amplifiers, there is no useful Q of amp between those two. Although, that may be an exception where the amp crafter is glad to make you 'odd Q' amps

There's no 'right' answer to any of these questions sadlylocke547 wrote:Alright, that makes plenty of sense to me.

Advice I can offer is if you will be levelling magic with a party, then you can be a bit behind in the 'regen' stats, if you will be mostly soloing, then they are as key as the stat themselves

The key is: do you have heals or not?

Sorry, hope that's not more confusing but again, ther'es no one way to do anything on Atys

Re: Newbie question about Skills and skill points and the like...
Other than all the good info posted already... I want to chime in on dual-wielding. I dual wield anytime I am not tanking (Then I take shield for parry bonus)... have been dual wielding blade/dagger forever. Other than specific gear loadouts I can hang with anyone in a duel.... it's a quite viable way to play, even better if it's something you enjoy. Is there a melee specialization designed around duel wielding? I really like the animations and the style of duel wielding as opposed to two-handers in terms of damage and I was just wondering if they were a viable option?
As for specialization, remember that your stanza's are ALWAYS oriented to the weapon in your RIGHT hand. The same goes for your enchant as well as your "critical" hits... Your daggers will mostly be supplemental damage, and the snazzy animations

If your desire is dual daggers, the higher damage one should be in your right hand... Much less tankable build, but hella fun...
