Hello everyone.. I downloaded the game on a different computer and want to downlaod it on my own.
I played the game for maybe 10 minutes and was completely confused. I plan on playing it longer and getting passed the starting areas.
I already play World of Warcraft and realize that this game is completely different from it. I have no idea what to expect in this game, so what is there to expect?
Thank you.

Re: New To Ryzom
I would advice you to read the posts in the forums as it has been already been explained very well.
And welcome to Atys by the way

Best thing to do is read the starter guide linked in my sig, and be sure to go around and find the 4 mission npcs in the starter camp. Crafting and Harvesting are to the sound of Chiang's tower, Magic to the east, and Fighting north. Be sure of course to talk to Chiang too. Later on you can do missions for him as well.
Doing missions for these people teaches you the basics of your skills. Read their speech bubbles, they are telling you what to do and how. The starter guide also helps a lot.
Don't be afraid to try the branches you don't at first think you would be interested in. They all complement each other and can be very useful, having at least a foundation in all 4 is a good idea. You will get all the skillpoints you need to use any skill you have the level for, eventually. For instance, you can be a fighter who can cast heal and root spells.
Play around, there are no choices you make that can ruin your character. There are no rigid class distinctions or "best builds." You can customize any action.
Have fun!

Re: New To Ryzom
expect freedom!
you can master every single school *craft, forage, fight, magic* and gain every single skill.
Warning: dont expect to do that in 1 month since in WoW you could get to 60 in 2 weeks or less :/
Welcome and I hope you stay !

Gretchen, I'm new to the game (only hours) and I just went through your guide and all I have to say is, THANKS! It was awesome and so very helpful. It really filled in the holes that I was figuring out on my own.
