New to Ryzom

Post by teesh »

Hello,

I'm patching the client as I type this, and wish to select the best server for my play style and locale.

I live in the US, East Coat and I'm an avid roleplayer looking for a guild of like minded people. Any suggestions welcome!

What race/faction are they? And how would I contact someone to join?

Hello, and welcome. :)

Thank you, Jayce...

http://dragonblades.org - Overall neutral in both aspects, though members have various individual beliefs.

You can type /tell Jelathnia to contact me for further information. I'm in pacific timezone, so it probably won't be hard to catch me. =)

Although "avid roleplayer" sounds like someone the Order would be happy to accept, you should also take a look at the List of Guilds, which includes information about which guilds RP.
Jelathnia, Kasarinia, KianShi, Maethro, ShuaLi, and OPaxie (Arispotle)

Thank you for all the helpful info.

Also can someone offer some advice as to which race/area is more newbie friendly? I was leaning towards Zorat or Tryker, but I can see where those races might be overplayed. Can someone reply and offer some insights?

Welcome to Ryzom :)

Tryker, I don´t realy know about but Zorai are the exact opposite of "overplayed". Sadly I think.
The represent a unique roleplaying challange, because of their fixed masks hiding their facial features and their "spirituality".

And in case of Newbe friendlyness, it depends on what you think of as friendly.

In the beginning everyone is on the same Island (Silan) whereupon you´re taught the ropes of how to play.
Later you may telepport to the land of your chosen race.

1. Zorai - great outdoors with wide open ragnes of non-aggro beasts right in front of the city. Later very challenging though.

2. Tryker - usefull bodys of water almost everywhere, to flee to if it should become nessecary. - But lots of swimming and very confulted, trouble is you can´t jumpf down silads edges, so you´ll have to reach the right spot to enter the water sometimes.

3. Matis - a small ring of small aggros around the capital that almost drives some to despair. But belive me, you can get by them without being hurt or having to fight. Excellent way to learn about the importance of the "playerskill" sneaking.

4. Fyros - Some aggos strewn accross lots of nonaggros. Very good soloable. Later In some areas very dangerous though.

Pick what you want. But remember, this game does not spoon feed you or forgive impatience. ;)

Maybe you´d like to have a look at this, it might help. :)

In the area around Zora (Zoraï capitol) there is some aggro but not right nearby and easily spotted and avoided (patches of Ragus and Javings, familiar to people from Silan.) Also one aggro bandit camp relatively close (Birds of something, I forget the exact name.)

There are passages from the Zorai starting area (Cities of Intuition) to adjoining areas, but if you are travelling down one of these valleys you pretty much can see in the distance something that's like Orange con called "ferocious faceripper" or something and know to turn around until that seems doable.

Thanks for all the helpful advice, I'm pretty much sold on Zorat, hopefully I will run into some nice folks and find a good guild soon too :-)

I wish you luck and the Dragonblades are an excellent role-playing guild on the Aripostle community since it seems you are on Ari.

Oh, and welcome to Atys! :)
