New player

Post by g3n0m4 »

Hello, I'ma a new player who has reached lvl 40 and now I've left the new players island.

Five questions:

a) I'm at Pyr. Are there NPCs that give you fighter/crafting/harvesting missions like the island ones?

b) Are player crafted weapons usefull or only the quest reward ones are usefull?

c) Which might be my next step now?. I want to be two handed sword warrior and two handed sword crafter.

d) Are there enought training points to learn several crafting disciples (as two handed sword and two handed axes), or I only can chose one.

e) Is there a way to respec your char?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome :)

On the mainland, you are typically much more on your own, it is not really mission driven. You can decide what you want to make, and that dictates what you want to dig, etc. You should probably focus on one crafting discipline, at first.

There are no real "dropped" weapons, just materials ("mats") to make them. Player crafted items are almost always better than NPC crafted.

Your next step, if I was you :) , would be to figure out how to make money. Start digging the things you need to make 2-H swords, and make some swords. Sell those, and any mats you can dig, and get some dappers. Level up your HP, and start exploring.

edit: there is no "respec". You cannot take back points and respend them. You can change how you spend your points at any time, and every character can level in every skill, so you don't really need a respec, just more time LOL

Hope this helps!

Your next step, would be to join up with some people and hunt as a team.
Silan never really got the team dynamics going, the mobs and players all die too quickly.

I dont know the stats for the Ranger armour, but im pretty confident a suit of player made Heavy armour will soon surpass it, so buy some of that when you can afford it.

Try to concentrate on one or two areas of crafting, and dont waste skill points at low levels buying other races crafting skills - especially where they are duplicating a skill you have for your own race... there will be pleny of time for that later on ;)

Probably find a guild, they will look after you.

a) Not directly like Silan. Some NPCs have a mixture of missions, but almost never for item rewards.

b) Only one type of NPC item(s) I see as better than player crafted, and thats Aen (Sergio, Lixi, etc) armour -- tho some player armour, if I recall, has surpassed Aen's specs.

c) Best advice, build up your combat to a respectable range. Around 60-70ish before you start focusing on some crafting. It'll give you good protection when you go out digging in the wild -- unless you plan to buy all your materials.

d) There is enough skill points available to buy every stanza/skill in the game.

e) No need; see section (d).

Hope that helped, feel free to ask any other questions! And you may want to take a look at the manual or really nice comic book style guide a GM made at http://www.ryzom.com/documentation

Yes there are but I rearely go to Pyr ATM so I'm sorry I can't provide a lacal for you :(

b) Are player crafted weapons usefull or only the quest reward ones are usefull?

Player player crafted weapons are always better except the weapons you get from the island for that lvl :)

c) Which might be my next step now?. I want to be two handed sword warrior and two handed sword crafter.

I would say learn to forage for your materials or hunt for them thus gaining you the lvls you need in the combat and crafting but foraging for your mats can also be safer when you can't group :)

d) Are there enought training points to learn several crafting disciples (as two handed sword and two handed axes), or I only can chose one.

You can learn every skill in this game, all thye skill trees, if you wish to spend the time doing it :)

e) Is there a way to respec your char?

There is no need to respec your toon cause you can learn all skills :D
Thanks in advance.
And welcom to Atys!

Edit: Sorry I misread your first question there are mission givers on the main land but they are to join a faction or become a citizen of a certain race :)

Missions on the mainland do not give XP rewards. You will get dappers and fame. (unless new ones where added and I haven't found those yet)

Nope, no new ones. :(

As Aina said, missions only give you fame with the faction/race you do the mission for, or dappers. Try talking to any of the NPCs with a title (e.g. corporal, city welcomer). Talk to the kami too.

And finally, welcome to Atys. :D

One more thing. When I arrived to mainland, my first mission gave me as reward a "cube". I read the window that explained what cubes are but I dont understand how it works or what are "cubes".

How I can open the encyclopaedia window again?. I closed after read it but I can't find where to open it again.

Thanks again.
