Yes , I too attended many "funerals" on SWG.

LOL this thread cracks me up...got to the first page and saw the ongoing theme "never a game that SOE is meddling with!"

Took me a long time in EQ, EQII and SWG to decide to go SOE-free. Cancelling my Access account felt like shedding a skin.

EQ was my first MMORPG and I loved it for 6 years but eventually they just lost my interest. EQII was good, I was in beta but in live, every time I really got hooked on a feature they would patch it beyond recognition. They never saw something that was working that they didn't want to mess with. I left SWG after developing a harvester empire, when they patched material quality into harvesting machine output rendering all my time and expense worthless. (I feel fortunate to have missed the Great Dumbing Down that happened much later.)

I'll be interested to see what comes of Vanguard, since Sigil games is basically Verant, who made EQ in the first place. We can see if "The Vision" still lives. Signed up for that beta but they never drew my name.

Well, SWG was getting changed too much anyhow, in fact it's good to see a game come out around the holidays. I am kinda waiting for warhammer online but that will be sometime from now before that game goes live. If Lucas Arts was smart they would quit doing business with SOE and start new with another company, SWG sure had promise but leave it to SOE to ruin even the best idea.

Also played SWG, as a Dancer/ID, before they nerfed it....changed to Ranger Rifleman...and they took Ranger awayyyyyyyy *cries* I thought I had jinxed the game.
Best fun was when Dancing could earn you a living, and I miss those times, so social.
Anyway, hello :) Anyone from Chimaera? :)

In the light of Bioware's possible KOTOR MMO and Simutronics' Hero's Journey, I hold great hope for MMOs. Until those two come out, I'm certainly happy to convert to Ryzom!
