Greetings!

Post by sinae »

Hello All!

I'm brand new to this universe and currently downloading the client software.
I'm not totally new to MMORPG's since I also have an AO account. I really like AO, but while researching Ryzom, there seems something new and exciting about this MMORPG.

I've been reading the posts here and see a great number of people that care for this game. That's a good sign for me. I hope to meet some of you during my travels.

Funny you should mention AO, I am starting to like this game for many of the same reasons I liked AO.

The level of immersion in the sense of weather, environments, and feel are very similar, easy to feel that you are "there." Also the rather atmospheric music reminds me a great deal of AO.

The interface and actions during combat or other activities reminds me a lot of EQII. Basically I'm seeing here a lot of things about the game that I liked in other games...but all in one game.

I like that you can grind if you want but you don't have to. I like that you can do quests but you don't have to. I like that you don't have to pick a track and be stuck with it, so you don't have to have a lot of alts to try different things.

Also, it is very refreshing to be in a world with no elves, dwarves, hobbits and orcs. AO. EVE-Online, and this are providing some welcome relief from endless Tolkien (forgive me JRR.)

Yeah, Zorai are kinda druidish and the Trykers are sorta pesky in a half-elf sorta way and Matis scream elf but not excessively so, and in an entirely different and non-D&D setting and context.

The basic roles of Fighter/Mage/Crafter/Forager are sort of universal across games but it's hard to avoid them, they are universal for a reason...to go out of the way avoiding them would be clunky.

I mean you could have auto racers, mathematicians, sous chefs and park rangers, but it would be a weird game.
Ashah...Zoraï on Arispotle (neutral but Kami-leaning) member of Team Spirit!
