A new healer's many questions...
Re: A new healer's many questions...
You don't need to skill the weapon crafting yourself. Many many players find crafter contacts to purchas/trade to get their equipment, and often guilds make sure all members are supplied with decent stuff. Now if you want to lvl the craft, that's great, it can be extremely rewarding, but it may be difficult to keep up with your combat lvls, as crafting can be slow.tamar wrote:

Bombs are area of effect heals, just letting you heal more than one person at a time. They're stanzas you'll learn as you level up that can be added to your regular heals. "Doubles" is a special improvement magics get at lvl 100. For a healer, it will allow you to combine two heals into one simultaneous cast, like a HP+ stam, or a double HP. They are geat to have, but costly to cast, so you don't want to use them exclusively.

As you'll see in other threads, that only happens when someone wants to change the game to be more like their previous game.tamar wrote:I honestly posted that expecting to be told to "Whine more noob" or "STFU and heal!"
And even then, we're mostly nicer than that.

Re: A new healer's many questions...
Amp crafting is a honest and rewarding skill, but if you want decent amps on Silan, do the magic quests. The rewards are amps that are better than can be made out of the available mats on the isle. I made a fine Zun, Yubo eye amp and though I was doing pretty good till I got a hold of the first amp in the Frosty/Icy series.tamar wrote:I suppose I simply need to skill up weapon crafting more...and faster.

(( hehe, yes, I was just looking at that, as my husband is a weapon crafter and is going to work on that, instead of me splitting into light armor AND weapons....and there simply are not any focusers on the island that will improve healing over the 60% speed and effectiveness more that the final amp from the mage quest gives... I am, however, quickly outgrowing it.thurgond wrote:Amp crafting is a honest and rewarding skill, but if you want decent amps on Silan, do the magic quests. Oh WOW! I'm even more excited now. It seems healing is extremely rewarding and very much more complex than I believed five minutes ago. <chuckles> This is most definitely a challenge that I am looking forward to!Bombs are area of effect heals, just letting you heal more than one person at a time. At any rate, I am honestly encouraged. At the time I posted the first part, I was ready to throw my hands up and start leveling up something else, entirely...now, I'm excited and can't wait to see the mainland ... just still tentative about the kitin invasion.
Thank you all, again! ))
Re: A new healer's many questions...
double heals - what it says on the box, lets you cast 2 heal spells at once for a higher cost, so you could hp/sap hp/stam or even hp/hp heal or sap/stam if your losing your mind
bomb heals - are for healing many people at once, the more people you make it heal the lower the heal power becomes

That is still and hopefully always will be the best thing about this game. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay complex and the community (even when we disagree on things) is awesome.tamar wrote:(( To add to the previous thought: ... We're so helpful Nevrax had to give us a dedicated help channel (universe).
Healing is my main skill and I find it both rewarding and challenging in equal measure. I see it as my role to keep the team alive and always feel responsible if something goes wrong. The tip about not healing all the main tank's HP or stamina is a very good one when the kills are going quickly. Soon as they start hitting, throw a heal and you should get XP then.
Welcome to Atys, nice to see another healer around.

Re: A new healer's many questions...
You had a lot of reply about skills and tactics of pure healing.
You now know that the best ever amps you can get on Silan are given as reward by the magic trainor quests.
Now I give you a strange advice which may save your life to both of you: take your partner sword and level melee and give him your amp so he can lvl magic (offensive for dmg and heal for what it is..)
In this game, the best melee players are healers: what use is a tank if he cannot res his healer in case of death..
For the healers, leveling melee is important as it will significantly increase your HP, another important point at the beginning is that you will be able to use melee skill points to upgrade HP and HP regen and that will save Skill points to be able to buy more spells (especially at the beginning: after a mid to high lvl, skill points are plenty enough).
Also, as you probably play in team with each other most of the time, it will make both of you aware of the pro n con of each tree and synergie been the key, you might be even more efficient .
So to summarise (can't help myself cos I find it funny but at same time is so true):
If you want to be a good healer: train melee
If you want to be a good melee: train heal
Then in turn you can train Off magic cos this one is the best dmg dealer in the game.. and if both of you can heal, then you can take turn to power lvl off magic very fast

Re: A new healer's many questions...
((Funny you should say that... there was an amusing bit of RP where my character (a very small/thin/young Fyros) asked Vae (a very large/thick/experienced Fyros) to teach her how to fight...so, Vae stuck her helmet on Kaurie's head and handed her an old sword....and then proceeded to trip over herself in Kaurie's dress.gillest wrote:In this game, the best melee players are healers: what use is a tank if he cannot res his healer in case of death..

Vae already heals well with sap gift as well, which makes life amazingly easy...and I have somewhere near 500 hit points at the point where we are almost ready to leave the island...so, we're not THE most competent at the other's skills, but we're learning.
I also considered leveling up Offensive magic for the same reason that you stated... I want more points to spend on the goodies. More sap, better regen, fear upgrade, etc.
Thank you for the advice, Gillest, as it confirmed what we had both been considering AND tells me that this is going to take a lot of time <grins> Which makes me happy. Time = dedicated players who have invested a great deal into their characters. Perhaps what the two of us have been looking for since the fast-paced, careless gameplay that has become the more recent MMOs where you can make max-level in two weeks and start over somewhere else if you make someone angry.
It seems that here in Atys, reputation is everything and will follow you wherever you go.
This is almost like home, already.
(wow, all of that from a few healer questions!) ))
