Questions from a young Homin

Hello all,

I'm new to Ryzom and have recently moved to the mainland. Most of my questions have been answered by now but a few remain and I was hoping for some knowledgesharing

1. Is there an easy way to travel to the other capital cities if you have not been there before? I am now in Pyr but I cannot leave the territory as the mobs outside of Imperial Dunes are too though for me still (level 50 and up while im 40)

2.What will give me reputation loss with the other races? (not kami or karavan but the player races)
I want to be able to visit their cities later on.

3.If I am hostile with Kami will I be able to enter pyr and pass by them without gettign attacked in the city?

4.What is the endgame of Ryzom? I am not looking for WOW like raids for loot but what are the options? Can you "win" PVP as a faction?

5.What fansites exist? I know about Warcry. Raum (although bad connection) and Ballisticmystik (even worse connection) but are there more?

6. What does "CATS" mean? I see this on the trade forums a lot.

7.What are Outpost materials and what are they for?

it is possible to sneak over to dyron realy easily from pyr and there are often trips run by high level players to get to other lands. pm me ingame if you need help

2.What will give me reputation loss with the other races? (not kami or karavan but the player races)
I want to be able to visit their cities later on.

doing fame for races will affect your other racial fames. but not by alot. you will be able to enter all the capitals with high or low fame with each race. the main difference will be in npc trade prices.

3.If I am hostile with Kami will I be able to enter pyr and pass by them without gettign attacked in the city?

yes but you wont' be able to go near the kami temples

4.What is the endgame of Ryzom? I am not looking for WOW like raids for loot but what are the options? Can you "win" PVP as a faction?

end game is a pretty mythical entity since there are 69 trees you can get to level 250. however it is what you make of it: boss hunting, more grinding, faction pvp, OP pvp, or my fav: stood around the tp's chatting

short for 'xp catalisers' (sp?), or crystals. they double your xp and are consumed at 1 crystal for every 100 xp they are dug by drills at outposts

7.What are Outpost materials and what are they for?

along with cats.. flowers which boost your stats (hp focus sap stam etc) for a limited period of time. also some OP's produce materials for making tools. others for making wepons or magic amps.

1) Yes it is possible but direct routes are usually tricky. A good tactic is to navigate from outpost to outpost as there is usually little or no aggro in the immediate areas (in between can still be fun) The other option is to go with a group of people, there are often organised treks, some that even take around the world that is Atys.

2) Generally you dont lose fame with any of the races, you only gain it.

3) You can enter any of the cities without fear of being attacked regardless of your fame levels. Friendly tribes on the other hand are different, you have individual fame with those and they will attack on sight if your fame is -51 (I think thats the figure)

4) Endgame in Ryzom? No such thing really. It is possible to master every single skill but it would take forever. Those who have mastered many tend to then go boss hunting and maybe even raid kitin nests as they offer a good challenge.

5) Look in peoples signatures on these forums for links to fansites, there are too many to list.

6) Cats are XP Catalysers, produced by the outposts. They are a consumable that doubles the experience you earn.

7) Outpost materials are used in crafting. They add special bonuses to crafted items. Each outpost produces one specific outpost mat. There are also tool mats which you can use to produce special crafting tools or picks that give bonuses when foraging.

Hopefully the above answers your questions. I think I got it right. Feel free to ask more and if I did get anything wrong or miss something out, others will post I'm sure

Outpostmaterials - ya can build special wapons an´ tools from ´em.
Better Wapons an´tools. Not fer ya young yubos ta play with, unless ya want ta burn yer fingers right of ya´ hand.

Declaring for a Race Faction will do bad things to other racial fames.
Some NPC tribes are aligned or opposed to the races, and doing missions for them - or killing them - may damage your racial fame.

Pyr is an easy walk to Zora, hardly worth carrying a weapon on , but once you get out of the sissy Fyrosian lands, travelling becomes more difficult. Veteran players will generally be happy to trek you to the other cities if you ask nicely, and guilds will do it for their members as a matter of course.

Except for one tiny little thing….

Kitin Lairs. What is the deal with these? Are these Prime Roots only? And what are Kitin Larvae?

sneaking to Dyron should work. I know what kind of mobs to avoid already. So I will try that first. if that fail (in other words I become fertilizer) i will be sure to send a tell to Sashtar or cygnus. (not to acridiel becaue a pirate is of no use to me in the waterless desert )

One other thing: CATS use 100XP per. is that not a bit low? or are there usually carried around in the hundreds?

I have done a lot of missions but I am still neutral. so no worries there (except some tribes)

Cats give you an extra 100 xp per 100 earned, per cat used up
so for 3k xp, you get 6k xp, and consume 30. the full stack contains 999

they have a level, and only work for skills below that level.
so q 100 cats wont help your skills above 100


still dont know the full plan for Kitin Lairs.

Kitin Larvae.. are similar to the starter crafting mats (wondermats) that can be used for ANYTHING.. except unlike the starter mats, kitin larvae is really great, high stats for everything. Only found inside Kitin nests (which are ingame, and different to Kitin Lairs (tm) ) and extremely rare and valuable.
