Two ant nests were located at either side of our garden when I was a young zorai, I remember quite clearly they were two species......easy to seperate because one was red, the other was black.
I learned over time they were quite placid and industrious creatures, they spent all day collecting resources and building their nests to amazing sizes..both colonies were identical in all their behaviour and habits ..colour was the only way to seperate them.
I discovered through my observations their intense dislike for one another, whenever they met they would fight to the death.
I set about studying them in greater detail to understand why....just to satisfy my curiosity.
I created a foraging area both colonies had acess to and filled it with enough resources and food for both colonies to gather...I allowed several from each colony to enter and studied the events. Over time I set scenarios for the ants and my knowledge and understanding of them grew each day. Eventually I understood the dynamics and interaction of the colonies...and concluded they share identical heirachy, structure composition, agressiveness, and intelligence. They had feeders, gatherers, builders..and each had their responsibility and designated tasks in the colony. I was aware that my observations and set tasks were altering their natural progression.....this I had to include in my study of these fascinating creatures.
Eventually the time came for me to leave this house that I had grown to call home....the time had come for me to take my place in zorai society. All around me I see the Karavan and Kami war, Yet I am fortunate to have the option to remain neutral............and have no influence on the outcome.

What are these creatures you call ants? The only creatures that are known to build to build nests on Atys as you suggest are the Kitin.
Aside from that, how as a Zorai can you remain neutral? Are you not aware of the gifts the Kami have provided us? Are you not aware of the reason you wear the mask you do? Simply standing back and not doing anything to stop the Karavan from stealing the resources of Atys is going directly against what they ask of Homins. What do you do to thank the Kami?

Re: Neutral Observer or participant...all perspective ?
You ask what are ants.....let me see if I can clarify a little.
First we must look at Atys, From the highest mountains to the deepest oceans the Zorai are well aware of this garden left in our care.
Next we will look at the amazing architecture of all four races, reaching upward are the elegant spires, through to natural dwellings existing in empathy of the surrounding lands.........the mistaken belief that only Kitin build nests is to deny the existance of such structures.
The skills that are evident in fine crafted items are clearly evidence of an advanced society that has a heirachy and interdependancy, clearly these traits assist them in progressing and advancing their cultural needs and desires.
I am sure you will be as amazed as I am when you study these creatures...I believe you know them as Homins ?
The colonies they belong to......some refer to them as Kami & Karavan.
My beliefs ? .....I think this is a subject best left alone until you understand the importance of casual observation

There are ant nests in the desert, less hidden there since they grow up from the ground.raynes wrote:What are these creatures you call ants? The only creatures that are known to build to build nests on Atys as you suggest are the Kitin.

As a Zorai perhaps he has taken the lesson of balance to heart more than the teachers themselves. Do not the best students outstrip the teachers?

I'm not sure... I'd rather say that our knowledge of the fauna of Atys is very , very limited, and any supporting document or reference for such an statement of yours may be based more on ignorance than certitude. We know nothing about these flying creatures (bugs, insects ?) that one may see flying around our lamps, those bugs that seem to pop from the sands, etc. Maybe these also build nests.

It is refreshing to know there are homins who understand we have limited knowledge of Atys.....Those who learn their environment have a distinct advantage in their fight for survival.iphdrunk wrote: I'd rather say that our knowledge of the fauna of Atys is very , very limited
Passing on the knowledge I gain will assist all who are friends of Atys.raynes wrote:What do you do to thank the Kami?

Re: Neutral Observer or participant...all perspective ?
I would agree with that to some extent, but if these "ants" were so common they build nests that can be found in any common Zorai garden, it would be common knowledge of their existence.iphdrunk wrote: I'm not sure... And we do know of the bugs and insects. Off the top of my head, one is called rotosects.

In his extreme wiseness, he said he was studying them, he did not say he was arguing-debating with themraynes wrote:Aside from that, how as a Zorai can you remain neutral? Are you not aware of the gifts the Kami have provided us?
And the reason the actual ants are hard to find nowadays? The froggs: those Atys froggs do really like the ants (little bit like caviar): when you see froggs, you know ants are not far... But you cannot see them: they are hiding ..... from the froggs
