[CHO ONLY] Thread
Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
Unfortunately, there already seems to be one guild bent on taking over all of the Outposts.. They have already travelled to other lands than the one where they started and taken over an OP, and I someone thought they had heard that this same group had gone to a third region to take over an OP there.. One group running around grabbing all OPs of a certain level at a time seems counter to the the type of server a lot a people want to turn Cho into..
Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
This is my view, it may be similar to others but I am posting from my view point only.
I have gone to Cho to play Ryzom as it is now:
GvG in the roots.
GvG over outposts.
FvF in Events and Open PvP (once I am aligned I hope to remain TAGGED at all times)
If I trade with someone outside the guild, the relationship is that trade only. No conditions, no ongoing commitment, I expect to pay a price. I reserve the right to trade and not to trade with my rivals.
Cho doesn't have the legacy of Aris, nobody can argue that this was not the intended game.
From what I have seen so far, 'What happens on Cho, stays on Cho'.
I am sure this wont last for ever and someone will come to the forums with a 'woe is me story' about fairness.
Keeping it simple:
If you take what I have, I will come and take it back.
If I take what you have, I expect you to try and take it back.
If you don't want to fight, don't put yourself in harms way.
I will not have homin enemies on Cho, only rivals.
The karavan are my only true enemy, if I have to knock a homin unconsious to futher my fight against the karavan so be it. I mean that homin no ill will for their choice in belief and I will not gloat or kick them when they are down.
Lets see how Ryzom plays, when you play the game.

Sure I felt a little betrayed by the "new opportunity" when I saw already big meta-guilds with lots of people from differents area. The whole new opportunity is being biased by efficient old players. No harm done I just guess Cho is for them and not for me.tyggy wrote:Unfortunately, there already seems to be one guild bent on taking over all of the Outposts.. I am going to comment only on this statement.
Cho is for all who play on Cho.
Its not for me or for you as individuals, our idologies may be poles apart. Neither of us is right or wrong in what we do, provided we don't break the CoC or game rules (Nevrax's rules).
Why have a clean sheet and repeat what happend on Aris?
No matter how much people want an ideology, it would only happen if hard and fast game rules existed for that ideology otherwise someone who doesn't sign up to that ideal will just do what they want regardless.
OP are in game to be contested and not just shared out. (Its the game mechanic, not the players that decide this.)
Ryzom game direction is conflict, faction vs faction. Before it was added to the game, I fought against it as the ryzom that was release in 2004 was one of the best co-operative games ever made. That game no longer exists, nevrax changed it, I have chosen to play the game as it is, not the game I want it to be.
I personally would hate to have a master skill gifted to me, it would give me no sense of achivement. I personally would hate to be gifted an outpost for the same reason.
Outpost rewards (cats and mats) are aimed at players who want to level more quickly. Those that get strong enough to take one, take it, if they didn't what would be the point of them being there.
It is my hope that Cho will never have 'huge' alliances or 'huge' guilds, but instead hava a number of strong guilds willing to contest the resources of Atys.
Again from a personal point of view, I don't think the meta-guilds intentions are to spoil anyones fun.
What would be the point of the Olympics if they game a gold medal to everyone that showed up, regardless of their efforts?

Whats your problem about a guild havig more than one OP?tyggy wrote:Unfortunately, there already seems to be one guild bent on taking over all of the Outposts.. OP's have different levels, whats the point of being level 150 and having a Q50 OP.
What has geography got to do with anything, if the OP is in a different country and no indiginous race has declared on it, Why can someone else not declare on it?
They have to fight their way to another country and attack an OP, it's not like its a freebie.

Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
We currently have two outposts, one in Fyros and one in Matis. We also have members from from both places. Is this then a problem?

Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
The problem with having OPs in more than one place comes when there's no need to take an OP in more than one country. Why trek past all the OPs in the country you take in part of your guild name, just to get an OP in some other country? That's illogical. It's like driving to work somewhere and driving past three other chains of the same place just to get there.
Why do anything that could be considered inflammatory on a server that your own guild leader has said "PvP is end game stuff"? It just seems like the Cho server is going to become the grounds where every Arispotle player that has beef will bring their vitriol and hash it out. This is not why I began to play Ryzom, I don't like to PvP. PvP brings out the worst in people. I'm all for supporting players who want to PvP, but it just seems like before the server even came into existence, people were already planning on turning it into the place where people from Aris could do even more fighting.
Personally, I'd like to see it more as a FvF server than GvG. It would encourage more factional alliances, and I think it'd encourage and provoke the storyline better. But that's just me, I suppose, and my opinion isn't going to get people to remember that Cho is a clean slate.

Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
think why most aristopilians are on cho now are to get away from the alliance sort of thing. never worked well. FvF has its place in events. Huge alliances that have a monopoly on the game isnt the best thing for cho.
Re: [CHO ONLY] Thread
Agreed Scar, the FvF becomes almost an arms race pushing the alliances to level quicker and get bigger.
Cho is nice how it is. There are a few large (ish) guilds and as fair as i know, none of them own that many ops. And none of them have started an alliance with any of the other guilds.
And i think the q50 outposts are owned by new guilds. Which is nice.
