Question about the Tryker race

Hi , Im new to ryzom and only been playing 3 weeks. I made a Tryker (Arispotle) cuz they looked kinda cool. Ive gotten my tryker to almost all lvl 50 in skills and i am getting ready to move to mainland. Ive have already coverted to a paying account since this game seems to be very interesting.

I was getting rdy to go to ML today but before i did i sent another tryker had over to ML (that i wasnt gonna play anymore) first to see if i was ready to send my main over.

So i arrive at the ML Tryker city and it is very beautiful just amazing looking. So i explore the city for about 30 mins and i noticed a few things odd. I only saw 1 other player there. I went over to the merchants to see if i would be able to get new gear and weapons but there was nothing except NPC made items. I mean no light, med, heavy, jewelery, or any player made items at all not even 1 thing. Now i can craft some items myself but not everything i need.

So i make a third character but this time a Fyros. I dont even lvl i just go straight to the ML to see there city. I checked all the merchants at the Fyro city and there was tons of player made items. You name it you got it they had everything a player could need to start out levling on the ML.

Ok my questions are this :
Is the Tryker race just dead nobody plays it, if so why.

Am i screwed now and need to start over with another race. If so what races are actively played now.

Is it possible to travel to another races city at my low lvl and if so could i do that cities missions.

If travel to another city is possible, could someone explain how i might get there at my low lvl. I do have some dappers and can by a mount if that would help.

Well in short: Join a guild

In Length, the merchants rarely get used, low level wise anyway, which is a shame. It could do with some tweaking.
The main reason you'll find is most people are in a guild and the older players in that guild can make better stuff... and prolly for free. (Guilds would also help with your travel problems )

There are lots of Trykers! We had about a hundred homins for the Festival starting at Fairhaven yesterday - maybe you were there after the revelers moved out to other regions? Generally, there are two humps of playtime in the week when the most homins are around, evening in Europe and evening in the Americas. If you do a /who command, you can see everyone who is in region. Usually I see a dozen to thirty-something in the low level Tryker region in my playtime. As for no gear on the merchants, that seems bizarre. Usually there is plenty of gear. Perhaps you had the options on your buy/sell window messed up? There a bunch of filters for q, grade, mat type and price that could have filtered everything out.

If travel to another city is possible, could someone explain how i might get there at my low lvl. I do have some dappers and can by a mount if that would help.

Ask around for a trek, there are plenty of folks willing to help trek homins across Atys.

Fairhaven (tryker capital) is pretty populated. It sounds to me like you had some filters up on the char you were looking around with. there is a reset filters button on the trade window.

next possibility is because Silan players have been coming over at such levels the q50 merchant was actually empty. it should never have been so high as it means lots ppl never get to experience the starter zones on the mainland as they are too high lv, but i digress. Each capital has 2 sets of merchants q50 and q100 so check the other ones.

so you're questions:

no tryker is not dead, far from it

which means you arent screwed

travel to another city is possible at lv1. please note i say possible, lots of us older players have done it, but really you need to have a lot of patience, know where you are going, understand mobs and aggro, and of course sneak. to travel fighting you need to go in a team with higher levels, ask around in region, or on the forums and i'll sure you'll find some help.

There are plenty of trykers, probably as many as there are matis and fyros at least.

The lakelands are never dead or unpopulated when I'm in game - I can't remember the last time I teleported into Fairhaven and found fewer than 10 players in the area near the stables. There probably isn't much on the merchants in Fairhaven because generally speaking, guild crafters will often donate or sell directly to new players under level 50, and most players get their gear from guild crafters or by negotiating directly with crafter friends in game. You are more likely to find equipment for sale in the higher level towns, at quality 150 or above.

I'm wondering if this seeming 'deadness' could be related to your playtimes?

I am so relieved to hear the Tryker race is alive and well.

It was kinda late last nite when i went over to ML bout 3am est. I didnt think that would matter much. As for the merchants i will try again with no filters set and earlier than last night. I usually play from 7pm - 3-4 am est.

Hi and welcome! I'm sure others will say the same but, here goes. No, there are lots of Tyrkers around everwhere. But, it does seem like race choice comes in some wierd of moon phases. During one phase Matis are quite popular, during another Fyros etc. I've noticed lately (I have a Trainer character on RoS) that Zorian's are popular at the moment. So no need redo your character at all.
On the matter of merchants. There I'm afraid you are correct. Most crafters and the better ones at that, belong to guilds and very rarely make stuff for merchant sales. (I agree that should not be the case) When they do place items on the merchants they are usually failures but, good enough to use.

For a solution to all the questions you asked there is one simple answer nd that is find a GOOD, helpful guild.
My guild has helped my experiences here tremendously. The crafters are generous to a fault. I've been part of 3 treks so far to pickup other guildies that started in the other cites.
Its all a matter of finding the right guild that fits your and their ideals of life here on Atys.
