You got a better idea on the fly? Current system is not keeping the subs acitve. There is the potential for so much content/activities in this game. And for the most part(97%) it must be all done via RP/Imagination/Ring.
The goal here for Nevrax is to give us so much stuff do in game, RP or otherwise, that we continue to pay the sub. Bosses being down for 3 days b/c 6-8 people hit all the bosses is not going to keep subs active. I doubt anyone would mind a 50% decrease in boss drop loot for the ability to hit a boss at their leasure.

Players respawn, so there's no reason why NPCs can't. It's related to the nanoseed, which is presumably located in the brain of a homin (and evidently other Atysian creatures as well). This was proven in the invasion of Pyr when Marshall Phanasa's "seed" was damaged by a blow to the head after what was probably a life of battle, resulting in her permanent death. It was also demonstrated in the assassination of Still Wyler, when a launcher loaded with Goo-based ammo was used to instantly shatter his seed, resulting again in permanent death.

Who is to say that in the 3-4 days you weren't able to fight this NPC/Boss (due to a lockout) that the Ranger you talk to innocently greets you and mentions nothing of this instance? A system info message could notify you of your individual lockout time while the Ranger talks about how nice the weather is today. Thus not cornered there "Forever".

Since Aen hasn't been allowed in Gladiator events (last I checked) I would *HIGHLY* recommend a color change. Unless the powers that be plan to drop that rule. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult to tweak the colors on the new drops to allow this. There are still +4 Aen's about. I would imagine that a +4 Parry would be near the 99th %-ile on the drop rate, if not impossible. I still see this being a potential issue for the Gladiator events.
In a way this would be a reward to older toons have been around to have a special suit (not usable in these events) to use as they please.
On another note, I always thought it would be cool if there was an MA Focus suit drop. The benefit being High Protection Factor and a larger Focus boost to counter the malus of MA (keeping the focus pool equivalent to a QL 250 LA suit without the malus).
Fighting an angry surveyor boss is something I've always fancied. He/She would have to have a pick equipped while doing magic attacks of course.

Raid bosses are a can of worms if you ask me and for good reason. Someone already made a very valid point saying he hoped the dropped armor wont be better than the supreme crafted...but if it wont be better then whats the point of going through the effort to raid the boss?...and if the raid boss armor is better than crafted then wouldnt that be a hit to the crafters?...Then theres the ppl that want the boss to be more difficult ( i assume maxed level players in strong guilds) but then said boss wont be doable by players below max levels....and the eternal problem of camping, even without camping there will be a lot of players wanting a go at it and dropping a single piece of the set and random respawn will make it worse rather than better. Problem with raid bosses is that there is no way to implement them and keep the game fair for everyone...no way at all. But unfortunately, just like pvp their popularity seems to be great and growing so if this will bring more players to Ryzom.....oh well..why not.
To make it clear. These are not new bosses in any way shape or form. They have been removed for one reason or another. Exploiting (Lixie & Pei), poorly coded (Sergio ~ infinite loop bug that spawned enough minions to crash the server) and Aen (the most stable but least balanced: used to take 3 high lvl toons to take her down). The random stat generator will help on making these uber drops.
The instance suggestion was not only for these but for mob bosses too. With a decreased drop rate, and the opportunity for all to attempt these it will give homins something to do at their leasure rather than "exploiting" (it's not player based exploits, but poorly designed gameplay) server reboots for sup mob mats.
