Noob Question here

Post by arganosh »

I just started playing the trial version and I am loving the game so far. I am planning on paying for a sub here in the near future. My question is this, At what level should I consider leaving the noob island? I don't want to get there to early and be able to do nothing, or not much and I really don't want to be the 32 year old high school senior if you get my drift.

Doesn't matter, I think. The weapon and armor you get for completing certain missions on Silan may be helpful, but there are Suckling Yubos and up on the mainland as well. Progression seems significantly slower on Silan...so you actually might find it easier to get those levels on the mainland?

Do ALL the quests on Silan.

There is no reason to leave before you have done all the quests. When you hand in all the quests, you get xp rewards, money, and gear. By the time you finish all the quests, you will have gained about 30 levels (spread out in different trees) in free xp given as quest rewards.

Once you have finished the quests, then go to the mainland, but know that its easier to finde teams on silan for the most part... so staying even longer might be better. :)

I would very strongly recommend doing all the quests on the island. You will get some decent light armor and a pretty good sword out of it, not to mention a very good understanding of how things work. And the xp rewards from the missions will level you up pretty quickly. You should be able to reach the low to mid 30s with no problem at all on the noob island.

I'd say stay there until you're in your 40s to be honest. Grouping is much easier there, getting a rez, etc. The problem on the mainland is that people are much more spread out and getting a group of people that are roughly in the same levels as you is harder.

I did the Ruins of Silan myself and left in my low 40s and was fairly comfortable with how things have been going on the mainland. If you come too soon, you will be stuck within a small range of your starting town due to some rough aggro out beyond that.

Yeah, yeah, I know. "I ran from here to World of Warcraft as a level 1 with no shoes on in the snow." ;)

Still, why make the experience of moving from the trial island to the mainland too frustrating. Stay until you hit the 40s in magic and melee (crafting/harvesting don't matter so much). You'll be glad you did.

Finish all quests and get fully equipped before leaving the rewards are nice for :
*the pocket money to get mount (riding 500k and carrier 200k)
*you get nice weapons(melee), amps(for magic)
*nice exp and I think the most rewarding for a starting player the Ranger armor set? which I'v heard is equivilant to Heavy Armor and penalty is 25 only.. correct me if im wrong please :)

Plus Silan is very enjoyable and helps you in getting a good hang of the game

Its not heavy armor equivalent- stats are on par with an excellent grade medium set.

My suggestion is basically what others have said, do ALL the missions. The mainland will have its difficulties no matter what lvl you are. So just finish the missions and come join the party.

I left when I was in my 30's. And there's always things near the cities to kill and alot of area to explore. I have other friends who are still on the island *smiles* you know who you guys are...

It's really when you feal comfortable. I was really wanting to leave the island so that I could meet my guildmates, in person. But we all leave at different times to be truthful. There are some who have left as they arrived on the island.

I would suggest doing all the missions for the reasons other gave, but it really all comes down to your play style, and how badly you want off of the island :D If you plan on coming to Arispotle I'd be glad to help you out! :D If Cho is your destination hate to say it but you are on your own with me cause I only have a toon on Arispotle :( But I'd be happy to give advice as much as you need in any case ;) And Welcome to Ryzom almost forgot lol

Thanks for the input folks. Since most if not all suggested, I will stay and finish all the quests. I like that there is a bit of a learning curve to this game, I prefer any game that makes me think and not just click my way through. So give me some time and I will be joining you folks on the mainland soon (I Hope).
