I understand that the quality level of your weapon should be the same as the skill levels you are using, i.e. increased damage 2 with QL20 weapons for maximum effect.
Is there some guideline like that to follow with armor? I just arrived on the mainland and have Ql20 light armor. I was told that I can buy and wear whatever QL armor I want as long as I have the cash to buy it. So...can I really wear QL50 or QL80 armor without incurring some kind of penalty other than the snadard action penalty for medium and heavy armor?
Also, I noticed when soloing on the mainland that my light armor didn't help much and I'm trying medium armor + fight skills solo and light + magic when grouping. What type of armor do most people use when solo? If I'm a mage and soloing is there a key spell I should be using to stay alive? I've been slaughtered too many times soloing as a mage with 33 off magic.
General questions about wearing armor
Re: General questions about wearing armor
If I understand correctly, when you wear armor that is higher than your level it decays faster, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, but what level is this based on? Melee? I thought there was supposed to be Defense skill, but *shrugs*kovah wrote:If I understand correctly, when you wear armor that is higher than your level it decays faster, but I could be wrong.

Good question, ill let someone that is more intelligent than me (not hard to find) answer that cause I really don't know what its based on.

Re: General questions about wearing armor
Medium and heavy armor (and weapons) have a minimum stat value
EG: for level 50 heavy armor you need at least 40 strength (Amount of stamina upgrade from fighter trainer)
as for decay, the decay is calculated by level of the mob and the lowest level player in your group, decay seems very small solo
Im not sure if there is a requirement on light armor, and so am not sure of any effects of wearing much higher quality

Re: General questions about wearing armor
First, you can't wear armor that is higher lvl than you (check the armor level on the info screen and your stats to compare). Second, light armor has no requirement, it's impossible to wear armor above your stats because it doesn't exist. The implications of a lvl1 character wearing lvl250 light armor are unknown to me but if that armor were carrying max HP, Sap or Focus boosts then our imaginary lvl1 character would have quite an advantage.evalisa wrote:Medium and heavy armor (and weapons) have a minimum stat value

Funny, I started wearing q40 armor much soon than I got to 40th level in anything.gralen wrote:First, you can't wear armor that is higher lvl than you (check the armor level on the info screen and your stats to compare).

Re: General questions about wearing armor
I can also use a lvl80 amp and am mid 60's in my magic, the point is that anything but light armor and tools have a stat requirement on them (right click them and look for the requirement) and then compare that to your own levels (press P to see those).seedyman wrote:Funny, I started wearing q40 armor much soon than I got to 40th level in anything.
Item lvl is NOT directly tied to your skill level but to your charateristics.
Re: General questions about wearing armor
Its actually Constitution that is the requirement for armour. Strength is the requirement for weapons. You can wear armour that is up to a quality 10 more than your constitution. (similarly, you can equip a weapon that is up to a quality 10 more than your strength).evalisa wrote: EG: for level 50 heavy armor you need at least 40 strength (Amount of stamina upgrade from fighter trainer)
Re: General questions about wearing armor
I wouldn't worry about decay too much. It only seems to be affecting people who are very high in levels pushing to max out skills as quickly as is possible. Personally, I've yet to see an item go below 95% of its max HP.nihir wrote:Yeah, but what level is this based on? Melee? I thought there was supposed to be Defense skill, but *shrugs*
