OK so the Ring has been out for a little while and anyone who has used it has started to form their opinions of it. So let's share them people.
Is it any good?
Was it all you hoped it would be?*
Was it worth the wait?
Will you be using it again?
* I remember quite a few people saying they were holding out for it, that they had high hopes for it. Have those hopes been realised?
So what's the verdict?
So what's the verdict?

Yes, brilliant, revolutionary in MMOs, a fantastic tool simple to look at at first but much more engaging and intricate as you get into it and set to become more so.
Was it all you hoped it would be?
Not quite. The lack of treed dialogue and the relatively low numbers of objects/creatures allowed per scenario makes it difficult to create appropriately decorated and peopled maps especially within the scales of map provided. I hope these limits can be addressed fairly swiftly, but the pace and extent of patching seems satisfactory so far. Perhaps they'll be more in this patch in 2-3 weeks Marjo mentioned. Also I think the lack of rewards for time spent etc and the inability to host while doing other things I think harms its use.
That said, there's enough to be going on with.
Was it worth the wait?
Yes.
Will you be using it again?
Near constantly.

Re: So what's the verdict?

Yes, I would say it's good. Certainly a huge step in the right direction. It does indeed allow you to create your own content.
Was it all you hoped it would be?*
Yes and no. It does indeed let you create your own content. It does indeed let you create some great stories. There is one HUGE problem with it though. In it's current state you have to be online and you have to be in your scenario to invite people to it. So in order for it to be useful, you have to sit in your scenario and wait, with nothing to do.
Was it worth the wait?
Yes I think it was. I honestly didn't think they would be able to pull it off. It has renewed my interest in the game.
Will you be using it again?
Right now, no. Once they fix it so you can auto invite people or you can just publish it and not have to be online, I will start to use it again. I just can't justify spending tons of time creating something and not be able to effeciently let people enjoy it.

Re: So what's the verdict?
Two interesting comments so far. Must admit you were one of the people this thread was aimed at Jyudas because I remember your signature from before the Ring was released, so I wondered if your dreams (and others') had come true.

Re: So what's the verdict?
Yup like it, although its very easy to try and run before you can walk which can be very frustrating as you learn the tools.
Badly needs an Autoinvite though for masterless scenario's so more can be left up and running without constant attention, and better setable filtering, max numbers etc.

Re: So what's the verdict?
It's a great time you can spend in game and I love it. It neeeds some learning but before learning you can still intuitively play with a lot of things.
Has some bugs but I suppose they are now on a waiting list and being addressed one by one.
What I certainly don't like is that you are stuck inside the editor if you want that anyone visits your scenario. If I make such a world besides playing it over and over with my friends, I'd love to leave it open for certain cathegories of players and mind my own businesson the mainland in the meanwhile. That's the reason why you don't see so many scenarios on the list if you go check it. All people creating them spend some time inside but are called pretty quick to do other things on mainland, as soon as you leave it, it disappears:/
A wish I had was working to a scenario with some friends. I bet some guilds or just groups of firends would love to buy such an area just to work together and make their own space.

Who could say it is no good at all?
The Ring itself is good. The bugs in it, and that came with it, not so good.
Was it all you hoped it would be?
Almost. I yearn for bigger buildings, like those in the Ranger camp or the ruins on Silan. It would also be nice to have simple components like walls, floors, ceilings, decorations, so one could create unique buildings.
Was it worth the wait?
Yeah.
Will you be using it again?
Yes...when I feel like placing myself at the mercy of NeL.

Re: So what's the verdict?
The lack of terrain editing and small size of lands and entities are fatal flaws within the ring.
The lack of autoinvite and/or open scenarios make it cumbersome.
