Is there PvP?

From which follows: are there leet-talking, greef PKers?

How does the combat actually work? I mean can someone give me a play-by-play of a typical combat scenario? This spell system looks different but I am not sure what the practical implications are.

I am not too fond of leveling threadmills but it is hard to find a game without one... how pathetic and weak does one start out? Fuzzy bunnies kill you by a mere glance or are you somewhat useful in a team of more seasoned players? Do you get any experience in such a team? Any loot?

These are some critical issues for me, if they dont work for me I wont be wasting your time by pestering you with questions about all the other stuff.

Thanks in advance.

There is not consentual-only pvp. There are specific areas that'll leave anyone open for a good beating. Race war isn't as emphasized in this game as others (L2), but it exists in the sense of preferances over others. (based on individual for the most part). Go out and choose who you want to gain fame with - even if it's the nemesis race of your own character's.

Level disparities in groups? Very costly - being under lvl suffers the typical drop in kill-ability, but having a single high-lvl will drop the group xp significantly. However, to even the fields, that player has the other of switching up play types (from magic to melee, or more specific such as 2h piercing to 1h slashing) to increase the xp per kill.

A world of trouble is what you'd be getting into. How you deal with it will up to you.

What about the groupping/leveling with others with level disparities?

I know I am pestering but this is not a cheap game and also hard to get around here, I would have to mail order it in and on top of that they dont seem to take Amercan Express which complicates matters for me. I would like to know rather well what I am getting into before I go to all this trouble to play it.
If you have more questions please ask! :) That review gives a good overview of the game. Let me try and answer your questions some more.

1) Race Wars
Right now the 4 playable races are in a sort of state of cold peace. In otherwords according to the background the races are not at war, but they aren't especially warm to each other. Some groups in game are attempting to change this though by forming alliances. The main "war" in the game is against the Kitin, which all races hate equally. The Kitin are bug like creatures that were accidentally uncovered in the center of the planet. To put it simply, the Kitin are big, they are mean, they are nasty, and they are not at all friendly.

2) Grouping with different levels
There is no restrictions on who you can group with. Though you certainly don't want to be level 20, grouping with people who are level 80 and fighting something at their level. As far as I can tell I haven't heard or seen anyone have a problem concerning levels and groups.

3) PVP
I haven't really taken part in it, but as far as I can tell it's set up in a dual type fashion. You challange other players to duals in order to sharpen up your fighting skills. I'm not sure how they will deal with guilds fighting other guilds but that is certain going to be a activity you can take part in.

That would mean that I will be hard pressed to make friends and stay together with them. I am a casual player and in most of the many MMORPGs I tried, I quickly fall behind most people, so what happens is that being a leveling gimp (the main reason I hate leveling) I always end up with new set of upwardly mobile players nearly every 3rd time I log on. This makes for a very lonely experience. From what you described, it looks like I would be doomed to the same fate here.

You could take up somthing like healing where even at a low level you are very welcomed in a group.

Why exactly are you replying as unregistered? Do you play the game?
