There seems to be some confusion over what Ryzom was meant to be...

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

mrshad wrote:Again, "what was meant to be" is of no importance. Arguing that point is futile, as the game now is markedly different from "what was ment to be". If we had everything that was "what was ment to be" we would already have been whisked away from Atys to a new planet to discover new things...I think I remember that somewhere in the long list of "what was ment to be". Frequent and huge Kitin invasions were "what was ment to be". A constantly evolving plotline that we could significantly impact and would meainingfully differ from the other servers is "what was ment to be".
I will give you the point that nothing matters of a plan once execution begins... What would you have us look to for game vision and plan ? There is no vision now, the roadmap is just an item where things are added, changed and removed. As there is NOTHING telling us where the game is going, should we not look at where it began as at least a partial indicator ?

The problem we have is the vacuum of development and everyone (some more than others) trying to be the loudest or last heard to maybe steer the ship. I assume their fear of making a plan we can expect to be reasonably followed, is it will please at most half of us and another exodus would occur. While everyone keeps throwing trash into each others backyard we are ALL still sadly misinformed of the plan in the end.

The game some of the rest of us were sold on was about the rebuilding of civilisation, not its destruction. The lore (as was, some appears to have been changed on the sly) didn't support national or factional war and only supported factional tension because of different ideologies.
Jesus you never stop moaning. Dont play if its not the game you bought.

NO don't come back you exploiting ass shat!
And as to the topic in question lmao if you think anything said in hype before a mmorpg is released means anything then your once again misinformed about mmorpgs. They said pvp would be a part of ayts not the major part from what I've read.

And I can't see anything about it saying pvp will be the main point of the game just that the choice will be factional and pvp will be in it, not to mention the comment on seperate pvp servers etc seems to back up that the game is absolutely not completely pvp driven and people should be given the choice.

If people say the anti pvp people are the ones going on about it, why are the pro pvp the ones whining on and making threads all the time trying to justify it. If you want pvp go have it but don't try to make it compulsary for those who don't want to. I'd really like to see pvp/no pvp servers but it's just not going to happen atm in this stage of the game.

I read the thread title and rolled my eyes.

Personally, I play the game for what it is right now and really don't care what it was, what it might have been, or what it could be.

Dont remember seeing any PvP on the pre release trailers.. big battles vs Kitins tho ;)
dont remember any PvP on the pre release open beta tests.. maybe I was enjoying myself and wasnt getting all bitter and twisted up with anti-K*whatever hatred - for which I apologise to DCC

Still havent seen any children in game, which I think I heard was another feature to be included ( unless you consider the ones that get muted on /universe, of course )

The game as it was when I signed up to it.
The lore as it was back then.
Every event that was run aside from the title-giving one which was only a _supposed_ 'This faction did this by proxy'.
The desires of and the way the community played prior to Ep2.
Even protecting the Trytonists was non-fanatic Vs fanatic, not factional (even though the Kami side ended up protecting them - more grist to my cultural playstyle analysis mill).
The invasions... you know, all that really.

The lore has been changed to now make the civilisations and factions more hostile to one another but some hints of how it was remain still.

Who am I?
You are a young homin refugee. You have bravely taken the long and perilous journey from the old lands to these new lands where we have begun building our new Empire. Once you've got enough training behind you, you'll be able to put your skills to good use for our Emperor and help rebuild our civilization.

That sort of thing remains pretty much consistent across the board still.

The Temple war fell out of nowhere, there was no lead up to it, no tension, no storyline, we were suddenly thrust into a war situation for no reason at all. At the very least that's piss-poor narrative ability.

Why were we fighting? The real answer to that is an OOC one and its 'because it was there'.
