Help with Amp and Axe crafting

Post by fiach »

I'm going to try crafting axes and amps, can someone give me advice on what I should be killing/digging for different levels please?

How do you get the axes to look fiery? Is there a similar cosmetic for amps?

Also, I can craft level 10 amps, how do I get to do level 20, do I have to buy a blueprint for it, or do I just have to grind until I get to the level for that?

Thanks :)

As for crafting q20 Amps, you have to go buy the melee crafting upgrade at the trainer :)

Well, I don't make either, but I know that Amps require magic energy components, which out of the ground means amber, or if you are talking creatures, often things like eyes work. Mektoubs, for instance, drop eyes. Many other creatures on the mainland will as well. (I think herbivores generally drop eyes but as a jeweler I mostly dig amber so I haven't paid special attention to critter drops.)

That's a racial trait. Fyros weapons are fire-based, so Fyros swords look firey. Other races have other traits -- for instance the Tryker blades look electrified. I don't think you can change this by changing mats or anything... just how with armor, you can change color with mats, but you can only change the shape/look by changing the racial type (Matis vests vs. Fyros vests look very different).

You start out only knowing your racial type, but you can spend crafting points buying more racial types. Early on it is hard to afford this and I recommend at first, focusing on buying the embeds (+hit points, +focus) that you want first, as well as buying up the level of your own race's crafting (i.e., axe crafting 20, 30, 40, .... etc for your race). Once you have extra skill points lying around then you can branch out and grab other race crafting templates, if you so desire.

One thing to beware of on the mainland is that above Fine (choice, excellent, etc), resources have to match the racial type. So for example, if I dig choice forest amber, I can only use it ot make Matis amps. That's one reason for branching out to other racial types -- you can then dig good stuff from other regions and still craft with it. Otherwise you are limited to fine from other regions outside your one specialty (of course, you don't have to dig in other regions but if you want to, as I did and do, then you can't use choice+ mats unless you have other crafting templates).

The level 10/20 thing has already been answered so I won't say any more on that.

Hope this helps!

The flaming axe is a racial plan only available once you reach level 150 in the appropriate craft tree, I believe (medium quality is available at level 75, high quality at level 150 along with the racial). Amps do not have any similar craft plan.

there are differences between the BQ, MQ, and HQ plans though... theres the obvious look of the amp, but the light trails (sparklies) become increasing larger and last longer with the high q amps. MQ you get a small trail of them behind you, while HQ stretches back quite a bit

If you're looking for recipes as to what materials to use... well.. no offense, but I honestly doubt you'll find a recipe for anything that's high-end.

Recipes are fairly well guarded by most, especially for the truly high stat weapons and such. Some won't even share their best recipes within their guild for fear it will leak out.

While I agree that lots of recipes are well-guarded, there are others that do no harm in sharing, that will help them get excited about crafting.

For your axes, if you plan to dig the materials. Look for Bigshell, and Oath Bark. Those will help you get max damage out of your weapons.

For your amps if you want to make them better with elemental spells, use sha amber, or yubo/caprini eyes. For heal amps, try Hash amber, and Yelk mushrooms. Its fun to see the different effect. Don't be afraid to mix differnt types of grip/shaft/agic focus in each amp.

There are lot of different combos that will raise other stats like speed, and parry, ect. Play around wiht recipies, switching out the shaft/grip/blade/magic focus etc. Have fun with it. Ryzom still holds many crafting mysteries.

Thanks for the replies :)

Im not bothered about secret recepies, I just want to make good servicable amps, I have found that eyballs from Yubos and Capranis are best, but the Caps are a pain as they are social.

What can I kill for eyes after Yubos, I've gone as far as fourways and got sprightly and scampering Q46-ish. Also I use Prime izams bones, but again I dont know the next species, I assume Igara.

Another question please. I can make Q30 amps, but even using all Q45/46 ingredients, I can wind up with amps of Q24 and out of a batch of 5, I can maybe get 2-3 Q30 and even though the ingredients are the same-ish, the amount of elemental damage varies immensely from 87 down to 50-ish.
What causes such fluctuations?

Thanks again for the help :)

That sounds like a degrade,

If you have a look at your craft window you can see the liklihood of your craft succeeding shown as a %. In the event that your craft is a 'failure' then the final item will not be the quality you were hoping for, the stats will also be less.

As you get higher in craft the chances of degrading lower quality items becomes slimmer. So say you were level 100 amp craft, and crafting a q10 amp, the chances of a degrade would be very slim indeed.

Even at master though, level 250 amp craft, the liklihood of crafting a q250 amp sucessfully is only 80%, and this can be extremely frustrating when youre using the best mats for the best recipes - but such is life :)

you need to make sure all the mats are above the quality you are makingor at least the same quality. you also need to make sure you are not wearing heavy armour or medium armour as this will degrade the items. also (not tested as i dont craft ranged) if your carrying too much weight this will degrade items.

when grinding your craft you will get degrades. you are most likley crafting with sucess between 60-80% at the moment so this would fit with the degrades you are experiancing.

the elemental damage is totally down to the mats you are using. and also very importantly the grade of the mats used. basic eyes have terrible stats, fine mats are pretty poor to. to get better results in terms of recipies choice/excellent and (if you can get hold of any) supreme. recipies as somone here mentioned are often closley guarded secrets mainly due to the ammount of time in aquiring the mats and playing with mats to get the perfect combination.

i say often closley guarded. no one ever asks me for recipies. i'm more than happy to share some insight however it is much more fun to find your own combinations.

however in the meantime it doesn't really matter what the stats are if you are just grinding for levels, just whack anything in :)

pm me ig if you get stuck (although at work at the moment)
