Well thats why you build them before the battle :p

Its not a perfect plan... But one to build off of, And maybe make OPs more fun with the right Idea's added or removed.

I like the idea of diggers digging cats , but i doubt to many players would spend hours each night digging for others. Would any one of you spend a few nights/days per week digging while others went out on hunts to lvl magic/melee using the cats you have dug............ Overall a great idea but i forsee a lot of problems resulting from it.

Remove the Guards and replace them with towers , that i like . As some have said the diggers and crafters in a Guild could help repair the towers in battle ,gives the players who like to dig and craft a big role in OP battles, imo a big step forward :D

No one seems to have touched on the Honour Points , well the lack of them. If the players could earn these then most arguments about cats would be removed , as you can buy them from the Temples. Would require a way for the neutrals to get them tho, hmmm maybe food for thought.

I did mention this.

Neutrals can do missions for both factions and earn points from both swinging from one to the other as they seek to cash them in, though it would be easy enough to add some Trytonist camps and tasks as well perhaps.

I like that Idea... The neutrals (since they are not going anywhere :p ) Need something like this.

But..
If you must have conflict, etc, and to address the concerns of m1nion.. how about a Royalties arrangement, where in order to dig the cats near the OP, and gain benefits from the guards ( if only :p ), you are given the choice of paying a royalty - as in Sash original sugestion.. for each xtal you dig, the owning guild gets one (automatically) , but if you choose to deny paying the royalty, you are tagged as hostile, a thief or raider..

Guilds could stage raids on hostile guilds, or help allied guilds.. and cats would be accesible to non-OP owners..

thats pretty much what i do now except i dig mats to trade.

it would just cut out the midle homin and i could get the cats i needed when i needed them rather than having to wait for ppl to come online to buy the cats off

I like the "tower defences" suggestion as built by players...

Since this would mean there is _actual upkeep_ to holding an OP, since after every attack you would have to spend your time replacing broken defences...

Rather than just a few hundred thou dapper for guards *yawn*.

Imagine the strongest OPs could be taken by repeat attacks, wearing down defences faster than crafters could repair them, making it a lot more dynamic changes in ownership.

But my REALLY REALLY BIG POST IN CAPITOLS POINT:

ANY SOURCE OF GOODIES SHOULD BE NO MORE OR LESS WORK THAN ANY OTHER SOURCE.

This means as OPs are not a lot of work really, you should be able to get plenty through other means with relatively little effort.

Or they need to turn down production on the OPs/turn up maintenance to balance.

Having constant fighting takes it back to PvP content with no choice, yet again. That doesn't get us anywhere when it comes to providing for all play styles.

Allowing people to stock up from digging at outposts works fine, let the fighting happen over control of the areas.

Would increase Economy as well if you had to dig mats etc..

As to Neutrals being able to gain fame in both factions, thats just daft, you dont follow either religion yet you can honour them and have their items, yeh that makes send 8)

Yep, it does. Giri, favours for favours.
During the temple building some of us did just that, switching between sides to earn points from both and items from both. Rashan did that the most since he had the patience to fame grind, but it can be done.

Think of it as an arms dealer profiteering from both sides and it makes plenty of sense.
