Another semi SWG refugee here. I left SWG many months ago altho i still hold a sub. there as I enjoy the forums from time to time. I've been in WoW, and I do love it still but I need something else to focus my energy on so I don't grow to hate WoW. =P
I have some questions about this game, frustratingly I was not able to login before leaving for work because it was still patching the little trial thing.
Is this a very social game? That is one thing I sorely missed in Wow after playing SWG for long, swg is a *very* social game where as wow is more about the kill/progress/win. I love both types but would love to find a happy medium game.
I like melee classes, and I like healing. Healing AND melee in one character would be sweet. (traditionally a monk type role i suppose. in swg for the most part i enjoyed being a tkm/doc for those that know, in wow i played rogues and priests almost exclusively) Is there healing here? I understand that there is no 'class' system, but each charater can do many things. That's really cool, providing some of those many things are things I want to do. =P Any links to in depth explanations of where skill trees lead to?
I'm not a sit down and make things kinda person, I get bored of that very quickly. I like PvP, healing, exploring and socializing. Do i HAVE to craft and such or is that entirely optional? are there ways to support your character without crafting? Is just being a gatherer without making things viable source of income? Not much for any sort of crafting business running.
Looking forward to trying this out tomorrow, and meeting you all. Do I get to pick a server, or am I assigned to one?
Lastly, I did not know I would have to use this handle to post on the forums. It is not going to be my character name, nor do i like to use it on forums, as it happens to be my real name. Any luck in changing that? lol.
*wave* =)

Re: Hello =)
I'd say Ryzom is an extremely "social" game. No matter what, you'll have to interact with other players to make progress. Add to that that the community here is really great. So, you'll likely have a great experience!
Ryzom gives you a lot of freedom to play your character exactly the way you want. Healing is, of course, very important in Ryzom. Thanks to the skill system, you'll be able to get involved into both healing and serious melee action. It's up to you, really.
You don't have to craft to support your own character. If you are not into crafting, simply don't do it. Other players love to craft and offer their goods through vendors or direct sales.
Regarding the server: You select the server you want to play on. There are four servers at this time.
Arispotle - The International server
Cho - a recently added International server (Start of this server was on Thursday)
Leanon - German community server
Aniro - French community server
Enjoy your time on Atys!

Welcome to Atys No, you can't change your account name, just ditch jhazmin and make another account using a name that you don't mind showing on the forums.

Welcome Jenikka
We have many refugees from SWG here, and if you browse the forums you'll find some links where they communicate and compare it to Ryzom.
They seem to like it here and I would think you'll like it too
