Now since are in the spirit of thinking about what may happen, what about the existing players, new and some old who have not retained such high levels. How will this help the community when the mentors have left the young to fend for themselves?
I am an old staple that hasn't attained much but many cherished friends. I just wouldn't want to see the current new community to get discouraged by watching their mentors leave for another land.

Re: What is the point behind Cho?
Well to me its like a playground in Cho and I fancy going over and having some fun, I DO NOT intend to leave my character to rot on Arispotle, I put too much effort into levelling and there are so many more things I want to do yet.
Last night there were 8 of us in Void....one team doing Plods and everytime someone logged for bed, it was very difficult to find a replacement
I reckon everybody was in Cho having a look-see and it will take awhile for Arispotle to regain its balance, also some people have a historically abrasive relationship with others generated over the last two years and are hoping for a fresh start on Cho, so you cant really blame them for going.

Re: What is the point behind Cho?
I understand and can not blame anyone for wanting to start fresh. You mention about possible "issues" ones have with others, but I can also see some taking their grudges with them, and as soon as one finds out who the other is, the same struggle could begin in this brand new world. So one could escape but only so far.
Just hate to see Aripostle become stagnant after such a nice revival.

Well in an ironic way, if they take the grudge with them and the others follow, it may not be a bad thing for Arispotle (tongue in cheek while saying this ).

Re: What is the point behind Cho?
To get an idea of why some people are going to Cho I wish you could read some of the posts of my guildies on our site, but here are some of the answers:
I am a very long time player of SoR, but I am a pioneer at heart. I took some time off from SoR, partly due to RL, but also because I was exploring other game in beta, etc. I thrive on being in there first and running around. I did it in beta here for SoR. I love the idea of being there to help the new people coming in. So while I have my 250 and 200's with Lyranna, Xyld is my main for now.
From other members of our guild:
They came onto Aris because the game was really good and they wanted to play but they felt they really couldn't contribute. They figured they'd give it a go because they liked the game. But with Cho around, this gives them the opportunity to be the ones to help when the rest come along. They don't have to depend on anyone else, they will be the dependable ones. I had one tell me how cool it would be because his crafts would be some of the ones ppl sought after. Another wanted to help shape the politics and thoughts of this shard. All of these reasons and more... We are here because we love the thought of pioneering a new place. Because we know the hard work that goes into it.. of not having gear at your level etc and we do it anyway so that we can be the ones to leave a legacy behind.
Let us shape our future.

Re: What is the point behind Cho?
Well said lyranna/Xyld. I know for members of my guild those are the reasons they moved to trying out Cho, and their being on Cho despite my personal disintrest in pioneering is more then enough reason for me to be there too.lyranna wrote:To get an idea of why some people are going to Cho I wish you could read some of the posts of my guildies on our site, but here are some of the answers:

So the vicious cycle begins again.lyranna wrote:To get an idea of why some people are going to Cho I wish you could read some of the posts of my guildies on our site, but here are some of the answers:

What about in the next years to come? Open another server for everyone to begin again? I just think it seems silly because in mere matter of months the range of skill level will once vary greatly. I only see 2 good things that come from this.
1) OP's are now open for grabs.
2) Begin the great race of first homin to master a skill.
3) "Feel" like your the first to pioneer out into the unknown.
Other than what I listed, I don't see any other offerings Cho brings to the table that creating a new character on Ari can do. I hear that others want to start on the same level of their friends, if a group of you feel that way, discuss it, and start over as a group. Refuse help from the Elders if you must but it can be done. There are several ways of going about starting fresh and I believe it can be done on Ari. I "hear" the banter that the Veterans will still return from time to time (to Ari), but the time spent on Cho, means time absent on Ari. Thats when us faithful on Ari will begin to see the effects and the decline of the population again.
The big questionis I ask, only because I am curious and wish to know, after the first 3 reasons have been exhausted, what then? What will keep you coming back to Cho, that Ari did not have to keep you interested? The chicks?
If Cho keeps the paying Vets here, then the more the merrier. My main concern has been over Ari, as it will be my home from start to finish.

Re: What is the point behind Cho?
I know for my friends that as well as the intresting in seeing a server develope from the start it's also a case of feeling usefull. We were having fun on Ari without a doubt but we didn't really add anything to the server. Now we aren't the bigest 'achiver' type players and couldn't care less about maxing our level fast or about outposts but we are crafters and I know my guildies like to see what they make being usefull to someone, it isn't the only or main fun part in crafting for them but it is something they enjoy and on Ari as a new crafter you rarely get that feeling.sycle wrote: 1) OP's are now open for grabs.

Well your three listed reasons mean nothing to me but what I can say in responce is if the reasons we decided to try cho out turn out not to be true or eventualy exhaust themselves, what have we lost?sycle wrote: The big questionis I ask, only because I am curious and wish to know, after the first 3 reasons have been exhausted, what then? But we aren't vets so maybe we don't concern you
Re: What is the point behind Cho?
Everyone on Ari leaving to Cho concerns me, Vets, Semi-Vets, and even new players I may have misused the term "vet" and should possibly repplacce it with existing players. I was merely curious.ashling wrote:I know for my friends that as well as the intresting in seeing a server develope from the start it's also a case of feeling usefull.
