Hey, could someone answer a couple of questions?

Post by andou »

Hey there, I've known about ryzom for a while but never ereally pursued it, now there's a free trial i'm gonna give that a shot.
I was just hoping someone could answer a couple of questions for me.
The first one being is Ryzom a dying MMorpg? (Lack of updates, player base getting smaller rapidly) I just wouldn;t want to commit myself to something thatmay be gone in a year.
And secondly, and more importantly, is the community any good? Are players friendly, bad communitys totally killed Wow and Maple story for me.

Hope to see you folks in game soon.

Ryzom is not dying, in fact they have made several updates, including a new way to trial Ryzom (Ruins of Silan unlimited free trial), and the newly released Ryzom Ring. Both I would say are pretty impressive updates. We have alot of new blood as well, so I will say Ryzom is not the largest MMO out there but its one of the best and in good shape.

Also the community is the best I have found anywhere, extremely helpful and diverse in play style (RP to Level Grinding), so you will generally find like minded people based on whatever play style you prefer.

Welcome to Atys.

Ryzom is the best community I have ever experienced as well, that coupled with a few other reasons, is why i returned to Atys after a lengthy time away. The people here are great! The game is pioneering in many aspects as well. The support staff really seems to care and tries to respond to people as promptly as possible. There are many changes and new things here since I have been gone, which shows that they are really attempting to make something unique. i suppose that is a bad way to put it, as Ryzom has always been unique, but I think you get my line of thought. Hope to see you around!

In complete honesty, I think they teetered on the verge of dying but seem to have managed to turn things around. The trial island has a LOT of new players on it and many have come over to the mainland (which you have to pay to play). In addition, they have released Ryzom Ring, which is a really nice tool to create your own mmo scenarios. I haven't done much with it, but it seems fairly simple to use and has sparked a great deal of interest. Who wouldn't want to create their own mmorpg?!

The game has pretty much anything you could ask for, be it PvP, roleplaying, soloing, crafting, etc. There are some features that are not as robust as you might like. Housing for example is basically just a storage area with no access for anyone other than yourself. The game does have mounts and pack animals but you can't rename them.

As someone who played previously and did not give the game a fair chance at that time, I can say that this time around, having really made more of an effort, I love the game. I highly recommend it, but it is a game that you get out of it the amount of effort that you put into it. In other words, it won't hold your hand down a primrose path to max level. It's challenging, in some spots it's frustrating, and in others I just have to stop and say "wow, this is cool!"

As for community, it really is among the best I've encountered. I've played SWG, WoW, EQ2, Lineage 2, EVE, and maybe one or two others that I'm forgetting. The only other community that comes close was EVE. Not to say that the other games don't have good players, but you really have to weed through the chaff to get to the wheat (or something like that).

Anyway, welcome to Atys. :)

Really can't think of anything interesting to say.

Good things are worth repeating! The community here is quite possibly the best in any MMO and from what some of the older veterans tell me the influx of new players has never been higher. The game itself is growing with the addition of RyzomRing and the constant updates and fixes to minor problems.
Anyway, its awesome here so Welcome aboard!
