Sorry about the vagueness. xD It's mainly intended to point out that Pyr is not made of stone and swords aren't made of metal.

Metal really doesn't need to be a part of the equation in order to make swords.

The Aztec swords were wood lines tihe flint, I think. They ended up being sharper than the steel blades of the Spaniards, but they broke after a few good hits, and couldn't be resharpened.

But, the lore of Atys takes it to an almost absurd level. Not only is there no metal, there are no minerals of any kind. How, exactly, to creatures have teeth and bones? What are the shells made of, if not minerals?

It all sort of gets explained as "Atys Magic", but it strains the limits of credulity for me.

No mineral deposits is likely more accurate. There are metals and minerals present as there are in all organic forms. However no deposits of note to make anything from, hence the reliance and nessessity of organic origin material manufacturing. Also the lack of minerals maybe due to the lack of age (in geological terms) of atys' organic life (eg fossil fuels) and/or the start of life on atys shattered the mineral basis (if terraformed) and provided the matter for the life.

Just for reference, where was it said that it doesn't have minerals?

Also...isn't it possible that alien life could have organic elements (i.e. teeth, bones, shells) of a different composition? Though much of Atys's life forms are similar (i.e. trees, canines), there could be that difference, perhaps.

And links #5 and 6 are abalone shells. :)
